5th November 2014.

Come off after a car pulled out on me.
It drove off afterwards, must have been going a good 85-90MPH... it looked like a Delorean with a load of chavvy funny lights on.

Guy called Emmett helped me up, ive taken his details as a witness.

Stay safe

…… Confused Not sure if serious.

Lack of obligatory paint diagram makes me think my suspicions are correct!

I'll be attempting to not have one this year, running at one a year so far (plus 3 bike drops which don't count)

No1.

Was hoping to never have to post in here, oh well. Crap spill anyway.

My fault, take your pick from; poor obs, too close to car in front, and too much front brake.

Car in front slammed on his brakes, I grabbed the front brake in auto panic mode, bike slides on wet surface and gives it to my foot good. No other cars/bikes/kittens hurt.

Indicator and bulb smashed, bike scratched, but apart from that seems ok. Managed to ride it in to work.

Too simple a spill for a paint diagram.

30 mins into the journey so tyres were nice and toasty.

So the front end slid out? Sorry to hear that. Out of interest. How many minutes into your journey were you?
Just wondering what temp your tyres might have been at.

I would find it interesting if this year people posted approximately how long into their journey they were at spill point.

16/01/2014 - A dark day. Laughing

Long story short I was breaking approaching a roundabout and didn't see two random bits of paint in the middle of my lane. I hit the ground pretty hard and the bike ended up on my leg but I'm fine and the bike is fine. There's one loose indicator and a scratched bar end and my helmet has some scratches but it's all good.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3798725#3798725

Here's my thread with more details for anyone that's interested.

I was around 2 miles into my journey.

Well, after a nice long 'crash, bang, ohthatsoundsexpensive, wallop' free stint . . I join this venerated list as of 6.40 this morning.

I was heading to work,(via a stop off to catch a bike pic challenge en route), and had only gone about 2/3 miles. I approach a small-ish local roundabout, quick check, nothing coming from the right and clear right of way, so I proceed round to continue straight over.

Cue Mr black BMW driver (car colour, not skin . . tho where I live the odds would have been good), pulling straight across my path from the left with about half a car lengths notice. Kersplat !

Impact with o/s front wing and me and the bike on the deck. It's been a while since I heard that sound, but you never forget it. lol

Driver was about 55 / 60 and seemed a genuinely decent fella.
This was lucky for me as the same can't be said for the 20 or so people that must have witnessed it . . not one of the ignorant fuckers stopped, lent a hand or offered a phone number as a witness. Typical London attitude. Middle Finger

Insurance claim in progress, I receive my courtesy bike tomorrow . . a SV650 (oh joy).

Impact can't have been much over 20 mph. So for a nice change, just bruises etc for me but I'm pretty sure the Tcat is a write off.

After getting home and having a well earned brew, I dig the other bike out of the garage and head off to work. Get to the top of the road, turn left . . and some loony bint pulls straight out from the r/h/s/ curb across 2 lanes and nearly puts me in the nearside curb !

She clearly thought my reaction was over the top. I didn't trust myself to get close enough to explain why at the time. Laughing

Tl;dr - Car pulled out, bike a mess. London is full of fkn idiots with cereal box driving licenses. Thumbs Up

Ouch. I hope that goes smoothly, but I wouldn't mention that you've got another bike, as you're only supposed to claim necessary costs from the at-fault driver.

Not that he's at-fault, what with you coming out of nowhere on one wheel at 100mph screaming "ALL CAGERS MUST DIEEEE". That's how it happened, right?

I may have mentioned I got a lift into work today as my 2nd bike is laid up atm with engine trouble when I called to arrange the courtesy bike . . . Mr. Green

Actually it was an 80mph rolling stoppie and I was yelling BANZAAII . . (hence he can't be at fault as my headlight was pointed at the road) . . but you were close enough. Thumbs Up

Are you saying you didn't actually check to your left before entering the roundabout? I know it's your right of way and all, but that means very little when you're getting run-over.

Of course I checked my left. . . and a glance in my mirrors etc.

I was just trying to keep the story brief as it seemed to be turning into a ramble. Very Happy
