Cheap bike to play on

I'm looking for a bike that I can use for a bit of day to day commuting and fun riding but that is cheap enough for me not to have to worry about wrecking it. I've seen one or two 125cc bikes that look really crap so I would rather avoid them but when the insurance and bike come to a total of less than a gran, i'm very tempted. So has anyone got any cheap bikes lying around that they want to get rid of?
