So Christmas brought forth some money that I could pump into biking and replacing some of my gear that had worn over 2013. One of the items that needed replacing were my gloves. I had previously bought some cheap gloves from the shop attached to the place I got my CBT done. They were cheap... Velcro was hanging after 2 months wear, seams started splitting after 6 and at 8 months they were about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. They weren't great, I knew that before I bought them but I was on a budget.
These are also budget gloves, I don't expect them to last terribly long but they are likely to survive a lot longer than the old pair.
Firstly they are actually waterproof, unlike the last pair which claimed to be waterproof but leaked like a sieve. As we all know the weather has been more arse than Jennifer Lopez the last few weeks and I've been out in it every day, not once has my hands been subjected to the cold damp of the outside world and have remained completely dry.
The velcro is actually substantial and likely to stay attached for some time to come, which is nice. Whilst these gloves (size XL) fit my hands beautifully without the need for velcro, the fact that once they're on, they're on is quite comforting. That and flapping velcro is more irritating than Clubland 74 - The Vuvuzela Mix on repeat.
Warm! The most important part (y'know bar safety and all that) is the warmth, and these are warm. I've not had to wear my inner gloves as of yet, however if the mercury keeps plummeting like it has done, I'll not be surprised if I do pop them on.
The visor wipes on the palms are also a welcome upgrade from my last pair, the ability to wipe rain off without making a smeary mess is wonderful. Although I can see this being a problem if, like me, you live in rural areas and mud on the road gets flung up often.
The padded and armoured areas are nice as well, being flexible and giving peace of mind that you're protected if anything should happen.
They also don't look half bad either, but you can't really go wrong with black...
All in all, I would recommend these as gloves to buy if you're on a budget, it's yet to be seen how long they'll last but they seem pretty good so far! ____________________ My Old Ladies: Natasha - Hartford HD125 S Fixin' Up:Jessica - Kawasaki GPZ500S

Good review, water proof bike gloves! That's got to be a first. My current pair with the fully waterproof label on the cuff never even made it home from the shop before they were like a pair of sponges.
Let us know how they go |
