Im building a KMX 125 field bike for Me and my son to use, but it refuses to spark consistently and therefore won't start? If I kick it 10 times it will maybe spark once or twice?

I have 2 other donor bikes so plenty of spares to swap out. I've tried replacing all the 4 main components like the Magneto, the CDI, Pickup and Coil, but it hasn't made any difference? Leading me to the conclusion that perhaps its an Earthing issue?

I've removed all of the extra bits of the loom that aren't needed, but I have a brown wire coming out of the CDI that Im not sure if its needed. (Ive attached an illustration to show what Ive done).

Has anyone with any KMX experience got any ideas where the brown wire goes (or if its needed at all). Also how should I Earth the x2 Black wires that go from the CDI to the Coil?

Thanks[/url]

Complete guess, but is it supposed to go to something which dissipates surplus charge between 'sparks'?
If so likely won't last long without.

IIRC the brown wire that you refer to is the switched live feed to the CDI and if it doesn't have a power supply to it then you ain't going to get a spark.
One of the 2 black wires that you mention should go to the ignition coil and the other one should go to the tacho (if fitted). If you don't have a tacho fitted then simply isolate and forget the redundant black wire.

Thanks, I'll try that.
I've attached the Wiring diagram for the KMX, it looks like the Brown wire goes to the 'Side Stand control diodes', and senses wether the Clutch is in or the Stand is down, but does that mean it needs blanking off or should I wire it into the Earth so it thinks both those switches are closed?

The diagram that you attached doesn't have a brown wire connected to the CDI Confused
I am, though, of the belief that the brown wire that is attached to your CDI should be connected to a switched live supply.
