I got some Alpinestars SMX-Plus boots in 2010, and they've finally died. All laces and zips broken, and general falling apart...

https://amawarehouse.com.au/images/blowup/222101120+WH.jpg

They don't make them anymore, or at least, I can't find another pair, new, online or in shops.

I need them to be track based boots, I don't need them to be waterproof or any of that shit, I need the most protection. Cost isn't really a factor.

Sidi

I have a pair of the fancy Vortice (I think pronounced Vortichey) ones that make you an track star.

Very comfy first time on and the nylon fishing gut tension system is cool too.
I had the shut the vents as my toes get a bit cold in the winter weather.

But don't pay 300 quid. I got mine last year for about 230 I think.

Edit: and all the wear parts are replaceable.

I saw them in a shop recently. I didn't like the amount of bolts and screws in them. My last experience of something like that was in my old Arlen Ness boots, and they kept falling out and bits coming off.

Nothing like that happened with these?

I'm well impressed with my Oxtar TCX's, they've done thousands of miles and I must've crashed 25+ times in them.

Don't put them through the washing machine though. The soles fall off then.

I got some nice Sidi something-or-others off the bay for £80 odd, but then I'm a cheapskate.

What this guy says, I have these too except in white and look like a proper slut, adds +4hp & -1sec off your lap time. I didn't get the same deal he did though and paid full price. Best boots I've owned

daytona boots best boots i've ever owned had them since 2000 still just as comfy as they were when i got them. i was restricted slightly in choice by having massive feet but i'd still recommend them to normal people.

I've been impressed with my GF's Daytona boots her father bought her. They have a very understated look, but are effectively a boot inside a boot. Check them out in person if you get the chance.

If I was looking for a safety upgrade from my current TCX Race GTX, Daytona would probably be at the top of my list. My boots are like wellies compared to the daytonas.

Probably would go with sidi's too. Have had two pairs, one pair broke after a year or two, but they were second hand to be fair. The other pair I ditched as it was unbearably squeaky when walking off the bike. Although someone on here did mention some WD40 fixed the squeak on theres so maybe not a problem anyway.

I hadn't really thought much of sidi to be honest. Went in today, pondered for about an hour, and came out with these.

https://image.sportrider.com/f/industry_news/146_1010_new_sidi_st_boots/35064393+pheader_460x1000/146_1010_01_header+sidi+ST_boots.jpg

I saw the other ones mentioned, but I didn't really like the look of the fishing wire fastening system. Far too fragile, so figured this would hopefully last a bit longer.

I was so close to buying the carbon fibre ones, but the fishing wire was the turn off.

Fragile? Shocked It's the same cat gut they used to land Gemma Collins off of TOWIE that time. Very Happy

Its nylon wire, the only way your snapping it is if you do something stupid like over tighten to the point your cutting off blood supply or you take a knife to it. Its replaceable anyway.

Well, I'd rather trust the ski-boot type fastener than a tiny little twisty bit and some plastic wire. That's just me though.

Meh, -2 is nothing when you've got enough man points for elbow down.

Enjoy your little twizzly bits and fishing line.

Yea right, the only time your elbow is down is when your lifting your lager shandy off the table.

You clearly haven't had a pair of the older ones then. They were 10x better, and the new ones are shit in comparison.
