I was merely saying 4 years as an example,
Here's what I though was a good idea explained a little better:

If I were to finance a motorbike, it wont be till July. So at this moment till July I can start saving say £250 every time till July, so there's a bit of money and I could then take out a finance for say 4 years and pay a low monthly cost that will still leave me able to save that 250 each payday, and when I get all those 250's together I can then pay the entire bike off in much less time than the 4 year contract deal.

But I'm now thinking, I can just do that with a cheaper bike, and to be honest, I've just fully looked into it and I'm thinking it may be too tall for me by an inch or two, as my previous bike was 34inches of the ground with my 29 inch inseam, I could only one foot it (barley) but I could shake the bike around all I want, it may be the fact of getting use to a different bike. Saying that, when I first got my bike I sat on it in my back garden for about an hour straight, not started, just gaining a feel for the bike under me, leaning it side to side to see how far I could go before no more Laughing

Taking money out of the equation, I bought a new XT from my local yammy dealer and I had a lot of fun on it for a while but it turned into the age old situation of as soon as I'd passed my test, I wanted more power.
But then I traded the XT for the Triple and although I have no regrets I really miss trundling along my local green lanes.
I even thought about buying the XT back.

They are great bikes super motos aren't they? I'm 5'5 and I sure as hell enjoy being able to see over most cars and easily squeeze past things!

I'd definitely go second hand for a 125, and listening to other's wisdom on this thread would stand you well IMO.

I don't know where you live, but if it is an area where chav bike crime is rife, you will almost certainly either lose a trick and desirable looking bike like the WR125X that you have looked at. Best case scenario is that you will probably have a few failed attempted thefts and have the bike tampered with, or bits removed from it.

That kind of bike ridden past the eyes of chav scumbags is like dropping bread in front of pigeons, they'll be all over it, and probably hassle you every time you stop anywhere.

I like the bike you linked in your OP, but it's not a bike worth £4k ever! If I lived somewhere I couldn't trust a soul when by back was turned, I'd get a tatty commuter 125 like a sound but scruffy CG125 etc, and buy a couple of big locks.

I agree with paddy, a Varadero, took my test on it, blasted around for 18 months on it. Unlike Paddy, I had a whale of a time on it, I could get the pegs scraping on certain corners, would go down dual carriageways alright, performance felt no different to my mates YZF-R125, both maxxed out at 75, went green laning with me.

And also my old 05 model with 17,000 miles on is for sale. PO was an old man who had it from new and went 20 miles a day on it. Very comfy, unless you're 6ft4, your hips play up after 2 hours. I always wanted a taller seat. There's some damage to the right side where the 5ft6 previous owner dropped it on a hill and couldn't get his foot down.

Don't get me wrong, its a superb bike. But scraping pegs is not fun, being overtaken on motorways is not fun... a 125 4 stroke is not fun.

It was a great get from A to B bike, massive and held its speed really well. However, for my commute, it was not the best. Laughing

I don't have money to scrape out my arse though that's my point, I could get a bike sooner if I did, it would be useful for seeing the girlfriend a bit more, commuting to work and college, would make life a lot easier

It was fun at the time, my TTR now makes the varadero feel like a dog. It only has about 6 more horses but weighs less and the torque is addictive. I'm sure my bike pulls as strong as my bosses RMZ250, you just ride different, you rev his to the moon but mine has to stay lower in the rpm, which means getting through the gears faster. Undeniably, though, his is faster round a track, mines easier.

A 125 on finance is a waste of money, put as much savings away as possible and pay outright. My bikes were all paid in full.

As hard as it is to believe, at twelve I knew I wanted a bike. I put my name down for a load of paper rounds for when I was thirteen. I had three rounds for five years. I told my mum to hide my bank card and asked to get paid to the bank instead of cash.

I saved every penny.

I now have two peds, a 125 and my 250 to show for it and enough to cover anything that needs doing to it, i.e. recntly I blew the TTR and i managed to fix it with paper round money.

My saturday job has enough to pay for fuel and stuff, if I hadn't had those rounds I wouldn't have a bike.

Anyway you shouldn't get a loan for toys.

Valid points mate, well done.

I'll be saving £200/month, I'll see how it goes!

Circumstantial. Surely you agree as a second bike a 4st 125 can be a huge laff. I swear I read about that little monkey of yours providing plenty of fun at a BCF BBQ.

Agreed and same here. I owe nowt. Except my mortgage, obviously. Shame we're still in the minority with this way of thinking Brick Wall.

OP, Its a nice looking bike and undoubtedly cooler than many others due to being a sumo Thumbs Up . But my feelings about all 125's are:
Don't part with more than £2k.

Oh for sure, a little fart arse frame and 8hp can be lols when you are in a specific place with specific people. On the road, you've gotta be willing to die Laughing

I still have my monkey with a 140, 14hp for the road in something ~65kg is far better than 14hp and 120kg.

I wouldn't have a fun 4 stroke road bike <250cc. I'd be wanting something like my KTM, 35+ hp with some "fun" involved. The most dull bike I've ridden on the road was the R1. Laughing

OP, £200 a month, 5 months, by summer you'll have a nice used YBR/XT125X... nothing wrong with used at all.

After Spain however Wink

The best bike I've ridden on the actual road has been and always will be the GSXR1000, but for fun, I'd have to say the RS125.
