I'll post the tips from my thread where I asked for advice.
It was a CBT, but the idea is the same.

Do:
Speak in chav speak using the phrases "mush", "innit", "ah no bruv".
Arrive with the attitude that you know how to ride better than the instructors.
Pop a wheelie from one end of the car park to the other.

Good, bikes are shit-yourself-scary, and you'll probably ended up deaded by all that 14.6 BHP.
Like how do you manage to stay upright and not tip over?
Rollerblades. I'll explain later.
Does it get confusing moving hands and arms and feets all at the same time?
Yes. Be prepared to flail them wildly as you roll towards a tree/kerb.
1 foot or 2 on the ground when not moving?
Both feet, all the time (except for corners, then you just want your outside foot down to push you round). This is where the rollerblades come in. See, when you were younger the stabilisers were attached to the bike. Now you're into big boy biking YOU have to be the stabilisers too!

Just bump off any obstacle in your way, and if you end up on a bonnet of a car then rub your arse up the windscreen and leave a snail trail, and headbut the windscreen to prove you've been knocked off your bike and claim for a new bike. |

I'm doing my mod 2 on Monday (looks like we're gonna be licensed up around the same time!) and from what I've picked up, it's not too hard.
Mainly, do checks whenever anything changes.
Direction
Position
Lanes
Speed
2 Lanes into 1
Line of parked cars on your left runs out (also good to check vehicles parked in the direction you're travelling, in case there is someone in there and they're about to move off.
Don't be afraid to travel at the speed limit - Your examiner wants to see that you're not afraid to make progress when possible, this means overtaking a bus doing 30 in a 40 etc
Also, use bus lanes where you can. Check the time just before your test starts and then check the signs for what time they are active.
Finally, just remember that the examiner is a biker too. Most of them want to see more bikers on the road that can ride without killing themselves (or others).

Yes, examiners seem to want us to treat the posted speed as a target rather than a limit, but they're only going to give minors for it. IMO, you're more likely to fail by making a major if you get too obsessed with hustling. Don't sweat it, in other words.
Do watch out for any tricky or unusual situation that they decide to throw at you, like complex or multiple roundabouts, or unmarked junctions. Cautious and slow in, sharpish out.
Doesn't matter where you go in the independent riding section, as long as you go safely and confidently.
If in trouble, offer titwank. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

KD on roundabouts is pretty much a guaranteed pass, as is some monowheel action through forward facing cameras.
Honest.
Best of luck though, just ride like its a sat nav in your ear. |

worked for me.
IMO, mod 2 is the easier one, it was just like another lesson, or another ride out with mates and stuff (well, you get what i mean). just remember to cancel signals, do mirror checks frequently (and make them apparent to th examiner, even if you are left looking like the churchill dog)
a good, safe ride is all they're looking for, you'll be fine. look forward to 'which big bike?' thread ____________________ Current: Kawasaki ZL600 Eliminator
