Hey there,

I was given a breaking but "working" Jinlun 125-11. the guy I got it off had no idea what was wrong with, and nor do I. as we both have ZERO understanding when it comes to engines.

When I first got it I decided to give it a ride about to see how well it ran. this is what happened.
- Pulling away, Next to no power, will go along at 5-10mph untill revs finally pick up
- Gears refuse to change from 1st to 2nd.
- Oil leaking alot, if I sit about for more than a minute there will be a pretty big puddle under me. no idea where it is coming from.

I also have no idea what tubes are meant to be where and connected to what, There is one tube from my carburettor that is just floating about, it isnt long enough to reach anything and I have zero idea where it goes.

There is a open ended taper that extrudes out from the exhaust which Im not sure if that is meant to be like that or if the tube is meant to be connected to it.

Ive been told that it is only running on one cylinder which I havnt got a clue what that means.

I tried taking it to a garage but they said they dont touch these chinese bikes. so last hope of getting it to work are these online forums.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

1 - The lack of power pulling away could be a variety of things but a really common issue on the 125-11 is a hole in an inlet manifold or the hose connecting the air box to the carbs. Check for these first. Another common one is the carbs being so out of sync it screws it all up, remove them, clean them and bench balance them as best you can, ensure the mix is set the same for each carb.

2 - Gears... static or moving? If it's static rock the bike a bit in 1st then try to shift. If it's while riding it could be something more serious. Check the shifter is set properly as well though sometimes people move the heel/toe to be a toe only but don't realise in doing so the bar to the heel bit is positioned in such a way that you can't actually shift because the footboard mount is in the way

3 - Oil leak.... try to locate if it's from the drain plug which is likely a previous owner forgot to put a washer there, or if it's from the shifter.

4 - The loose tube from the carb is meant to be like that.

5 - The pipes coming off the top of the pipes are for the EGR valves, a valve should be on them with a rubber hose that connects to the carbs. You don't need them but if they are not connected you do need to blank them off.

6 - Running on one cylinder means that of the 2 cylinders only one is running (reasons can be varied). Try the stuff I said first before assuming that.

I've tried to keep it simple if those things don't help we can get more indepth

I just sold my 125-11 but have a 250-5

You may want to join the pioneer Nevada owners club ( www.pnoc.co.uk ) they cover most Chinese cruisers and people there have seen/repaired it all so can give you a lot of community support/advice.
