New Biker - Comet Hyosung Gt125

Hi there

I;m a new owner of a Comet Hyosung GT125.. i'm told it looks like a hornet or something! (Photo attached)

Lovely big bike doesn't look like a 125 to me (not that I've had that much experience, lol)

Just wondering if anyone can give me any tips on de-restricting it?

So far a mate told me that changing the exhaust system will improve sound, speed and performance.

It is a four stroke so there aren't any restrictions you can remove. 14.8bhp is all you're getting from it I'm afraid.

Changing the exhaust will make a very small improvement to the performance of the bike and (IMO) isn't worth doing as it will make no real difference to anything.

Lovely machine you've got there. They really do look great and even bigger than a 125.

One was parked up by my RS outside of college the other week and I couldnt tell whether it was the 125 or 250 as I believe they look the same. Still, couldnt help but admire it for a good few minutes as I let mine warm up.

Either way, lovely machine, so treat her well and make sure she's locked up.

As said there isn't much you can do to greatly improve performance but a race can, air filter and altering the jetting should give a little more power.

I know some one who has one and he modded a race can to fit, the standard can has a large baffle in at the end which makes the exit hole small and restrictive, he said the can made quite a bit of difference at top end power. Also he made the inlet on the air filter bigger and up jetted the carb. This made it sound better and again gave it a little more power.

They are very sweet looking bikes and i'm beginning to see quite a few about now. The difference between the 125 and 250 is that the 250 model has gold front up-side-down forks.

Dont mod your comet there really is no point, if its slow do your test and get a bigger bike.

I was sick of 125's slowness...got my licence and am not sick of my 500's slowness
