Hi All, I'm a newbie here, seeking some advice on a problem that's occurred today with my X5's clutch. The bike is only ridden very occasionally & basically the clutch seems to have gone completely, yet the lever feels as it should. - After starting the bike & engaging gear it wasn't biting properly so I attempted to adjust it at the lever...following this it just went altogether!! Neutral warning light has also gone even thou bikes not in gear, not sure if this fault is connected or not?? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Burn it with fire!

I had an X5. It tried to kill me twice...

The problem is that the clutch plates are completely fucked.

Neutral light isn't really related. The switch is on the other side of the bike. The cause of the loss of neutral light is likely due to you not being able to find neutral due to you not knowing what gear you are in....

Sorry not selling any parts...bikes got 11 months t&t!!

Thanks Nobby, have definitely got bike into neutral yet still no warning light so presumably either a blown bulb or faulty switch I guess?? Have noticed bikes developed an oil leak from the clutch casing side too now!! Been searching on forum a bit & read someone had freed off their X5 clutch plates & replaced rods due to loss of clutch? wondering if oil leak could be from a rod seal?? -
Guess i'll just have have to get a few quotes now?!!

Cheers for that...trouble is ive never worked on a bike engine or clutch before so wouldn't really know where to start... will probably invest in a Haynes manual 1st for fear of making things even worse...was very interesting reading about your own X5 by the way Thumbs Up

Blau has an X5. I dumped mine at the side of the road because I got fed up with it trying to to kill me.

Pushrods need to be correct length and in the right way round.

Persoonally, I'd be more concerned by the fact that the fucking thing will want to speed-wobble given half a chance.

Thanks again for all the advice...just wish I was a little more confident to start delving further...don't suppose any of you live anywhere near Huddersfield?? - Only bought the bike around 6 wks ago to re-live my youth...never actually owned an X5 back then, but almost did, then changed my mind & bought an RD200 instead!! - Just love the smell & sound...takes me straight back to '82 & care free times Smile
