It dont matter what expansion chamber you use, as long as the silencer is legal. The Big One pipe is about half the weight of the original, and is probably a single skinned pipe, so it will be noisier than std, but 2strokes always sound better with a thin guage performance expansion chamber, than the muffled standard ones. The Best silencer for your kmx is IMO a DEP. Its sold as legal one, and BSI marked, but its got a well silenced straight through baffle, thats easy to remove and re-pack if and when it gets oiled up and too noisy. The DEP is also alot lighter than the boat anchor std silencer, and it looks loads better too!
If you do get a Big One pipe, let me know how you find the performance, as im thinking of getting one for my 200, when its back on the road, as an interim measure. I think ultimately that with all the engine tuning work i want to do, that a custom designed and made race pipe will be the way to go for my KMX, as im going to be chasing every last bhp i can get hopefully! I was even thinking about having a 3D programmable ignition system made for it, but i think that wont offer that much extra power for the £££'s that it might cost, so i might spend the money on a trick pipe instead. |
