I have spent about a month trying to get hold of a front sprocket nut for my bike and have had no luck. The only place i can find the exact nut is the USA for £5 + £25 P+P which I just cant bring myself to pay.

I have tried ebay, wemoto and then various Yamaha parts sites in the UK but cant find a seller.

I am in Bradford and called my local Yamaha dealer for parts who are unable to tell me how much, how long it will take to get one in as its a 'special order' and i would have to call into the store to order and pay which is a ball ache to be fair.

Anyway, if anyone on here can guide me in the right direction of one it would be much appreciated.

Its is the very last part i need and its pretty frustrating having the bike sat taxed, insured and MOT'd and not able to use for this Nut.

The old nut i need to replace seems to have very worn threads and will not torque up on the shaft as its a very loose fit. The thread on the shaft seems good condition so would i be correct in assuming the nut may have stretched or may just have a worn thread?

The shaft looks fine as you can see below.

Have you tried Fowlers of Bristol?

They stocked an obscure part for a WR250F that I was working on recently.

What bike exactly? The YZ/WR share many parts... this looks to be one of them.

This, they have huge stocks and will post out for not a lot of cash.

If they don't have it, they will get it and tell you how long and how much.

If you've got the old nut go to a place that sells nuts and bolts with it in your hand and ask them to match it up.

These sort of places usually have an old man in a brown coat with a steel rule poking out of his top pocket. He will tut when he sees your mullared nut, make some cutting comment, then pop out back and either find one straight away or tell you it's a very peculiar thread that no one can supply except Yamaha.

Did you just post this in the hope that Pete would pop up and say something like "I was looking for an excuse to use my lathe, I'll run you off 5 of them".

If so, well played. He'll appear.
