You can run 5000k. Where does it say you can't have over 4200?

Aren't you the same guy that said stators shouldn't run in oil? Also why on earth would you want a blue light? Just stuck a set of night breakers in.

No, it'll just be a little whiter. Just ride the damn thing, if you can't see, get a bigger bike with some decent headlights.

Careful now. Proper blue lights like Corsaboi favours may get you a stern fingering from Constable McTargets. Tut Tut

I wouldn't believe the numbers tossed around by bulb sellers anyway, regarding either the gas or the colour temperature.

Stock bulb:

50W "Xenon" "blue" "7500K" bulb:

Much better, but not blue.

If your aim is to be distinctive, when's the last time you saw a (perfectly legal) yellow headlight?

I (once again) agree with Roger. If you want to be distinctive, blue is not the light colour you are looking for.

The police are pretty jealous of their precious blue lights, the also have an instinctive dislike of teens on scooters. The blue light gives them an excuse to pull you over. Be that right or wrong. A member of this forum has been pulled before (correctly as it turns out) for having reflective blue rim tape.

I'm presuming you want it distinctive because a 55w H4 bulb will be giving you more than enough light to see at night on any given scooter. If it isn't, perhaps your aim and beam pattern would stand some investigation?

I have seen people use coloured headlamp covers held on with squares of sticky-backed velcro before. Leave them on for daytime use, remove them for night or if plod takes an interest.

In my experience, paying more for a premium, brand-name, standard bulb (such as phillips) is better than getting a cheapy halfords-special chavboiracer SuPR BLU!!111!!!! lol bulb

NO!!!

They must be fitted.

A mate said these supa halogen-zenon led blue bulbs are the equivalent of 3000w bulbs and will make his mates (since girls have fuckall interest in scooters) drop their keks quicker than the bulb will blow after hitting a bump.

I had a speedfight 100 once, and fitted a H4 60/55w Phillips extra bright main beam bulb. The light was fantastic, but as the OEM headlight was rated at 35w, It was putting a real strain on the wiring I would have thought.

It used to take about 2seconds for the main beam bulb to come on after pressing the switch, and then I rarely used it for fear of burning out the loom in the middle of nowhere and being stuck. I sold it on with all my bodges still fitted, and still wonder today if it ever caught fire, as was it just probably stolen and trashed by chav's like most of them were?

BU51FGK are you still out there? Laughing

It has no tax or insurance.

You should also not that pretty much all standard bulbs are coated to give of colour temperatures in excess 4k

That means you are actually losing visible light. i.e they won't be as bright as set of 3.5k bulbs.

Even the Philips extreme vision motorcycle bulbs are coated to achieve a 4.2k colour temperature. Which is why the car version of the same bulb is much brighter.

I find I can see much better with a traditional bulb giving more yellow light, it fades out better at the edges of the field (as shown in Roger's picture) meaning I have more chance of catching a faint shadow of that bicycle with no lights on a dark side road. The white bulbs are very off/on.

It won't make a difference what bulbs you put in the scooter as it will still look shit!

From a safety point of view the brighter the better BUT you could strap a lighthouse to the front and the car that runs into you or pulls out on you will be the one who can't spot a lighthouse on a clear night!

I would put what little money you have into getting a larger bike/licence if you can or at least a geared 125. I'm currently on the 125 varadero as a commuter until I pass my test(soon) and I seem to get noticed a lot more as it's a big bike look. People always comment on how I manage with l plates on a 400/600 cc bike. That I think is the best way to be seen! Even when filtering people in cars move over thinking I have some credibility!

It's for sale too so it could be your lucky day!

This^ +1.

I had an old bodged Sachs xtc that someone had tried to bodge higher wattage bulbs into it.
First time I got the lights working, they melted the reflector Shocked .
