Try running the quote through with security on a price comparison site, see what difference it makes FOR YOU - everyone's different.

And just buy the Almax; there really is no point messing around on lower end stuff IMO

Do Almax have their own locks now? They had Squires before - the shop's been taken down on the site just now.

Thatcham approved doesn't mean secure. Also think of your no claims.

Pragmasis also recommend Squire, but presumably for their resistance to cutting or smashing rather than picking.

I'm currently considering the Untouchable lock instead, which comes in a full £30 cheaper.

That's good to see ironically - I have the lock down by the front sprocket with a pin through the bike, locking the chain in position. The fence the bike's against can give a very narrow and awkward space in which to work. I can fine tune it a bit more now..

I bought an Oxford disc lock off the Thatcham list because Bikesure demanded I get one. So I got one, and told them... "Er, yeah, that makes no difference to your premium." Wonderful.

I used a Thatcham approved Datatool Devil 1000 and it knocked off £3000 from an RAC quote I had.

Shocked

Point is, did it bring it down to be the cheapest quote?

True, it was probably one of those comedy quotes that gocompare seems to spew out from time to time.

Abloy 362 padlock.
Sometimes they come up for less than £100 on ebay. They are monsters.

Noticed yesterday in ride magazine they was doing bike lock tests. Alma's and another came put on top (something beginning with P). The P one had the same scores as Alamo but was £60 cheaper. May look at one of them.

The two Squire locks I have had both have issues over the years. The ball bearing that keeps the lock in and out wears down and now pops out. I have to be careful when I unlock or it drops out... Got them with my almax.

Lol@RiDE. Almax and Pragmasis are within pennies for the same thickness x length (+ Squire lock).
