Hi guy, recently my ybr's (2008 fuel injected) engine warning light would flash couple of time when pressing the ignition switch or using the kick starter, it would happen one or two times before starting.

So today the engine would refuse to start for a good while, I noticed quite a bit of water around the side panel as well dripping from under assumed it was this, it eventually did start up but took a lot of tries. I checked the spark plug and it looks in great shape the gap was correct as well, took a look at the air filter as it was what I suspected (although expected dust) as soon as I took the panel off oil just fell out...

Now I bought this bike form a dealership who serviced it before selling mid October since then I only adjusted the chain tension, rear brake shoes due to squeals and lubed the cables. Is this build up normal and if it is, is it suppose to take roughly this long to build up this much? I only use the bike for a 6 mile commute 4-5 days a week and occasionally a 30 mile round trip.

Also I noticed while most of the crap was oil there was some water once I drained most of the oil. I attached picture for reference.

Alarm bells ringing. Water/oil in the airbox can mean major engine problems, but someone with more knowledge will be able to tell you what.

Yeah I would of thought, maybe too much engine oil was used, I been trying to find similar occurrences on the web and it could be that and the water could possibly just fuel...As they have a similar consistency. The bike starts up great now and runs fine, but I need to replace that filter as the bottom side was drenched in oil.

SQL I think you may be right as under the airbox there is a small removable thing which catches the crap which gets through like a mini drain. In this case maybe it wasn't checked when serviced before I bought it which is why it has built up so much..

drain the oil and replace to correct level, new filter in.

Check it after couple weeks and also bikes need to be run so these 10 15 min journeys won't do it many favors.

EDIT: Drain the airbox every other week using that plug.

I check my airbox every week. Always a small amount of liquid.
Hence it has a drain cup on it.
