Yeah, my 2014 was kicked off with a right bang. A 12-hour shift with no break and no food from 3pm to 3:15am, I got out of work and lo-and-behold, some drunk + high on coke bonersocket had gone and smashed up my bike + helmet. He's paying for the helmet but not the bike as he can't be seen doing it on CCTV. Let the police know but as there's no evidence and no eye-witnesses he can't be held accountable.

So pretty much all the front-end fairings of my bike are in bad condition, not helped by the fact that a week after I fell off due to the icy conditions!

I'm wondering if you guys have any advice on getting fairings repaired or replaced on the cheap. I don't really fancy paying Honda the £50+ for each individual piece of fairing (I probably need 6 in total)

My LH and RH middle cowl are banged up, the RH has broken off completely. The RH upper has a huge scrape on it, the whole nose section wobbles on and off the bike and seems very loosely secured (not sure if this is just the fairings or the lugs on the clock + headlamps that are broken) The bellypan fairings are in pretty bad condition, and then the upper cowl that goes between the clocks and the screen are cracked and broken too.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

So he feels guilty enough to pay for the lid but not the bike?
I don't know where to start. Confused

+1

wait until you have a GSXR and they're £400 each, thats the time to look at repairing

buy the most important first, and spread it out for a couple of months, you'll have it done before the summer

Take him to the civil courts for the damage to the bike - police wont get involved as the burden of proof for criminal offences is "beyond all reasonable doubt" meaning that it must be 100% definite that the defendant committed the crime.

For civil matters however this burden of proof is simply "more likely than not" given the fact that he is paying to replace the helmet which sustained similar damage it is clearly "more likely than not" that he damaged the bike too.

Get yourself down to the county court and pick up an N1 claim form, get an invoice for how much it would cost to repair the bike, and add the £30 court fees to your expenses.

Seriously get it done, I'd say you've got a good 95% chance of it going your way.

PM me if you need any help or advice and I'll help where I can

I ended up getting a full nose cone for my CBR, it was not cheap.
I got it slightly cheaper than Honda prices by getting it through Bradford Motorcycles though.

I'd say if you can't repair it, it could cost up to £400 for a new set.
Could always try araldite? Wink

What a lad, my bike is red with black Honda stickers.

Do you think it would be possible to hack some of them together, use the working mounting points and apply them to the current fairings I've got? Doubt it would be stable enough to take going over speedbumps etc.

Just wondering, isn't it technically possible to nick a bike then dismantle the fucker and sell all you can get for spares / repairs?

Suppose there's no way to tell other than the VIN which is on the frame and wherever else.

But yeah I have been looking at breaking bikes on the bay just to see if I can grab some cheap fairings. Ideally I wouldn't mind having someone experienced come round and see what needs replacing on the bike and what I can keep. The local garage who often do me good deals are quite busy and unfortunately would charge me for the time taken to completely disassemble the fairings and have a look.

It is suspected that the lugs on the clocks may be damaged, so even new fairings wouldn't stop the persistent wobbling.
