I've been given a couple of these for Christmas and I'd be happy to have them on my bike ... haha, no really ...

The thing is, I've heard they're unsafe and can damage the valves. I could understand this as the centrifugal force acting on them at speeds of over 120mph must be phenomenal ... has anybody else heard this? or had any experience?

Thanks for reading in ...

Heard lots of urban myths about that, so personally I wouldn't chance it.

hiya.. a friend of mine hda them on his bike.. was doing 80 on the A404m noticed front went strange. pulled over and found he had no valve in the wheel . luckily for him he stopped safely . was told by the recovery bloke that it wasn't the first time he'd seen it..I wouldn't fit them on my bike but who knows it might be safe on yours.. this is my personal view!!

I would of thought that despatching in London I would see a number of bikes with these caps, well I haven't seen any at all. Haven't seen any cars with them also. I have no idea why so it seems to me people are not interested in the product.

I thought about them myself, just for a giggle but never bothered.

Would never use them personally..

A) propper valve caps seal the valve and have an 'O' ring in the bottom, and are designed for that bike.

B) wheel balance will be nocked right out, and on a motorcycle, your wheels are the most important part. You only have 2 of them, and if you loose grip on one.. things get messy Mad

You could put them on the wheels at your next tyre change, and have them included in the ballance, but otherwise be a little wary, and dont use cheap ones.. Oxford do good ones as far as I know.

I bought the ones from argos. They are pretty good, have rubber-O rings as well.

I've never had a problem with them.

haha - not quite - wheel balance weights come in 1g/ 5g/ 10g sizes ... 1g at standstill is going to be like 10kilos or something of that ilk when the wheel is spinning at over 100mph ...

Tyreflies suck. Rear one caught on something and smashed. Both refused to be removed as the threads locked on them. They looked crap anyway. Don't waste money on them.

I had the tyreflies installed on my Nrg, they were useless and yes, i deed need a new tyre valve in the end when i had my rear replaced. They're not that bright, they're useless and without being too technical, they add to the gyroscopic mass of the wheels. YOU personally wont be able to see them, so what's the point. Oh i got mine free with FUK so it was a chance to see what they were like. In the end, the LED popped out which left it in a sorry state like Div's picture. Id keep my wheels standard.

Thinking So that explains why my tyres used to loose pressure from time to time... I used to have a set. But then I realised they wre catching on my Rear caliper so I took them off!

Hi

I had a tyre valve ripped open due to the extra weight of an extension piece for the tyre valve. Since then I have avoided anything like that.

All the best

Keith
