Just put through about 20 quotes on gocompare, everything from a FZS600 to a 98 FIreblade is coming in at about 200-400 quid on MCE. Is this weird? The next best all seem to be much more expensive on the higher-risk bikes like gsxrs, have I done something wrong? Really surprising that I can insure a TL1000S for £210. To be fair there's a pretty hefty excess on the cheaper policies, about £1000.

Details are; 20, 2 years ncb, social only, stored in a secure car park on a military base, PO14.

I was 22 with one year no claims when I bought my insurance and it was £450 I think? That includes commuting, but I wouldn't expect to pay that much more! This is restricted to 47hp too.

MCE is looking cheapest for me this year too for the first time. Have been with bikesure the last 3 years but they're nearly half the price FC or TPFT now for some reason.

500 quid excess instead of 300 with bikesure is the only main difference otherwise.

When I was a squaddy this upped the insurance. Ended up paying less when I moved on to the pads estate in the same postcode.

Apparently an issue with the staff housing at the Tower of London because of the postcode. Their area is secure but shares postcode with all the dodgy surrounding area.

Or to be cynical it's the insurance companies painting with a broad brush to get more money.

I just insured my new bike with MCE. 2008 Hayabusa. £180. Cheapest by a long way Thumbs Up

I've heard a few less than great things about their customer service, but I'm willing to put up with that for the saving!

I have a multi bike insurance with them, nice and cheap. Just don't change bikes halfway through your insueance, they sting you then.

When I renewed last time I got 15 months for the price of 12, can't complain about that.

I noticed this also doing some quotes yesterday - it says its only available through their website and not quote-comparison sites apparently. Entering the same details i used on thebikeinsurer, it only added on an additional 25 quid doing it on their website which still made the extra three months cheap.

Quite a decent deal Thumbs Up

MCE always do the best prices for me.

My previous insurers wanted an extra £900 to add the ZX9R to my GSXR750 policy.

Seems a bit stupid, it would make sense to charge the price of the highest risk one as I can only ride one at a time...

Suppose there is the theft aspect.

MCE for both added an extra £9 a month so that's fine. Smile

The reason they give you this is because for every 4 years you're insured with them they only have to give you 3 years no claims

Phone them up and you'll end up with the cheaper price. I got a dearer quote when I did the website but when they rang me to follow up I requested the comparison site price and got it after a referral to the supervisor

I'm with MCE, stupidly cheap. The excess is high but the excess is the same amount as what other companies were quoting me for the policy. I'd rather go for the £700 less policy quote and hope i don't need the excess! Cool

MCE were the cheapest for me for a while, renewal quotes were always higher than a fresh quote though, so don't auto renew.

I have about 25 years NCB so I don't see how that affects me.

MCE are utter twats.

Insure with them by all means but don't expect an easy claim if you have to actually use them.

My brother is insured via them paying monthly. December just gone he was a quid short and charged him a £100 "fee" for it not going out on the right date.

There's a reason they're cheap - if they weren't they wouldn't exist.

That isn't what the issue is with it, it's the ridiculous amount they charged him.

I've got other reasons I don't like them, I just couldn't be bothered writing them out Laughing

I actually doubt that was MCE but the finance company who you buy the credit off to get your insurance on a monthly fee.

Eh, probably is now you mention it.

They also accused me of fraud while getting quotes from them over the phone and I made a boo-boo about how long I'd had a provisional licence for Rolling Eyes

Shortly after that they changed their blog so images couldn't be posted in comments. Wink

Also, before you take out a policy with them, do a search on here for MCE Insurance and have a bit of a read about peoples gripes with them.

MCE came out the cheapest for me - £103 TPFT for my 929 FireBlade!

Yes, insurance is scam and I'm not likely to claim form them. Sod the £600 excess and the fact that it's going to royally bugger my insurance renewals for the next few years on both my car and bike policy.

Touch wood nothing happens to my bike, but at the end of the day, if Marco does goes walkies, I'd only get £1100 for him once my excess is paid! Not much point! Not much point in insurance anyway other than the legal aspect, but at the end of the day, go with the cheapest. Besides, I get to ride any other bike so woot!

Been with MCE for many years. Simply because of price.

There were others close, but on the net, even if I save a penny I go and buy from that seller LOL.

Customer service is rubbish, they often don't update things when told.

I am pretty sure if you pay monthly they don't get commission. I was told I could not get a quote after a lot of info given. Put in same details on go compare and they were the cheapest... so I paid on line.

If a claim is needed then they use Fletcher solicitors who are actually pretty good.
