Hi,

after a quick pointer, the dealer delivered my bike but managed to not fit the fairing screws around the battery and the bolts that hold the seat on as they charged the battery and left them out.

They were meant to post them Monday but i haven't heard anything or received anything.

I'm going to get this kit from probolt for the panels
https://www.pro-bolt.com/alloy-fairing-kit-kawasaki-zx6r-07-08-black.html

But i can't see bolts for the seat, does anyone know what size they are and if i need the nuts too or if they screw into the brackets?

Sorry, i don't have any biker friends to help me so you get all my daft questions Sad

Ask the dealer where the fuck your bolts are.

Definately ring them and ask wtf theyve done with your bikes bolts first.

They wont be in that fairing kit and i dont think probolt supply them but you might get similar threaded size bolts elsewhere. If theyrd totally lost a local kawasaki or other large dealer should be able to sell you replacements.

If its like the 05-06 zx6 they dont need nuts, just screw into a thread.

When it comes to bolts, aluminium is actually a type of cheese. Sort, deformable cheese.

Mate, if I were you, I'd go for these

Stainless Steel Bolt kit for P7F-P8F ZX6R's

Aluminium is light but damn do they like to corrode and seize. Any metallurgist will happily tell you the joys of bimetallic corrosion and the differential electro-potential of the metals in the galvanic series.

Assuming your well nuts are bronze or steel, I'd keep them stainless for fairing bolts. You said you liked the idea of taking your fairing bolts off when you need to? Neglect to lube them up (NOT with coppaslip i hasten to add unless you want a little galvanic cell building up) and they'd seize up nicely.

I've included a copy of the galvanic series. Look how anodic aluminium alloys are compared to austenitic stainless steels - most bolts are 304 Type steels, unless they're martensitic.

Keep it stainless and you'll be fine! But then again, I am an anal metallurgist!

Thanks...I don't really understand but I take it Aluminium = bad

I'd like black bolts but I don't want them to corrode. I'm no metal expert but can I get gloss or matt black bolts without painting as paint will flake. I only want the ones against the black fairings black.

See the picture below, the two bolt holes infront of the seat are missing and under the seat there are two brackets which the seat bolts onto, these are also missing. I just need these 4 bolts so don't mind replacing them.

The bolts are the same as the 05-06 636.
I'd be pissed if they went walking. The seat bolts are a peculiar fitting bolt. I wouldn't like to bodge that bolt as the body of the bolt widens to take out any vibration which would inevitably lead to seat damage.

Call up bike shop and demand the bolts.

Thanks thats perfect!

92153 is what I am missing under the seat! I might try and find someone who can get me the list price and ask the dealer to refund me that amount or supply the bolts.

Pretty hard to get hold of cheaply, I'd still persue that the bike should have them and you want them sent out. Let them do the running around.

If you still want to look for them this is the full descrip for your bike.

Thanks Smile

Think I found them, I am going to send this screenshot to them and see what they say

I'd be happy with £13 off and ordering them myself, at least then I know it is done.

I'd ride the bike down to them and ask them to put the bolts back in.

You've just paid good money for a bike... you are accepting it with bits missing.

Victor Devine thrive through customers like you, should have bought a Honda ;~) Laughing

Lol it's only bolts mate, if it was anything serious i'd be annoyed but the chances of them being rusty and me replacing them anyway is quite high so i'm not bothered.

Have you checked every single bolt is there. Wink

I'm sorry but if I bought a bike that was complete and when it was delivered it had bits missing, even silly bolts, I'd take it up with the dealer.

The aluminium probolt kits aren't that bad i've got one on mine. They will be a bit buttery if you wrench the hell out of them with allen keys, they only need nipping tight generally.

Bit of copper grease or whatever on the threads to keep them from corroding and they're fine.

I have, they haven't sent them, which is why I am sending them the screenshot and asking for the cost to be reimbursed?

It's too far away mate, not riding 100 miles for some bolts, but I will pester them until I get it sorted. I have an email saying he will send the bolts and admitting they were forgot so he can't really get out of it.
