Tips for me on A2 test

Hey guys i going to book myself in for a a2 test sometime this year (maybe march-April). I know i have to do a theory before my practical. I am wondering what sort of activity's (if you call them it) i will be doing on the practical test and how long does it last?

Mod 1 - basic maneuvers (10-20 mins)
Mod 2 - on road riding and questions regarding the bike (40-45 mins)

(They are two separate tests)

After your theory you'll have to do your CBT. It's not a test, just basic bike training on a 125.

Then if you pass your module 1, you will need to do your module 2 test. All your module 2 is, you'll be given directions (via a ear piece/radio) and you just follow the examiners directions and he asses how safe you ride.

Module 1 is very easy to fail and very easy pass a little thing can cock it all up on mod1 such as accidentally knocking a cone over = fail.
Module 2 isn't hard at all, it's considered the easier test of the two. If you treat it like a test and over think things it doesn't help, it's better to just treat it as if it wasn't an exam and ride safe.

See if your local schools are doing Winter discounts you may be able to save a decent chunk of cash doing it before the end of February.

Theory - Easy, just book online and go do it. Do lots of the free online practice tests beforehand but it's really not hard (if you already have car you know)

Mod 1 - Ride around a load of cones. Again this one isn't very hard. Your School will have a copy of the layout and practice you round it so you know exactly what you are doing. If it's anything like the school I did it at they made the cones much tighter on the practice setup so when I did Mod 1 I thought "Fook me this is wide and easy".

Mod 2 - A few questions, read a number plate, then on the bike. You will spend most of it following the examiners instructions via an extra crackly hard to hear radio, at the end he will tell you to follow signs to somewhere. Personally I think this is harder than Mod 1 because you are more at the examiners mercy (so hope his same sex life partner noshed him off before breakfast). Mod 1 you hit a cone you fail simple on Mod 2 I got the feeling the examiner just invented minors at the end because he couldn't write anything down while riding.

Why wait?

You're already on a 125, and you know what A2 bike you want (Tenere).

You can either book a course through a training school, or buy yourself an A2 bike, insure it through Bikesure (or others) on your provisioanaL, find a way to get it to the test centre legally (trailer, van, licensed up chum riding it in) and start having a go at the tests.

There's no better preparation then doing them, and you're not going to pass during a lesson.
