MCE Insurance Excess Insurance ? Anyone know about this?

Just changed over to MCE as their quote was the lowest though with a hefty excess of about £1200.

Got a call from their call centre saying I could get Excess Protection which was explained as "insurance for your insurance" - for an extra £50 on top of my existing premium of £350 I would have that £1200 excess covered so if there was a claim I wouldnt have to pay it.

Sounds good though a bit Inception like so wondered if anyone's got it already and if its too good to be true.

I have it but I don't intend to use it but they claim the insurence excess will be covered up to 2k so you still get a fair pay out

One thing I will say is i got mine chucked in for free, and as I just found out as well they don't give you your no claims til 2 days before policy expires

Read it carefully

Section 5: What is not covered (Exclusions)
1. Any claim that Your main Motorcycle Insurance Policy does not respond to or where the excess is not exceeded.

So in other words if you've got a £1200 excess you've still got a £1200 excess unless the value of claim exceeds this. In other words, if you total it - you get the £1200 back, if you do a grand's worth of damage by sliding it down the road - all on your shoulders pal.

if i mind right when my boy got insurance for his 125 with mce there was a massive difference with the excess depending what site the quote was from .

go compare 1250 , money supermarket 750 .

at the end of the day its a bad idea making a claim as if you do insurance will cost a fortune in the future .

i had a mishap with my busa which came to 3k , i claimed my insurance which resulted in all 5 of my vehicle policy's going up for the next 5 years .
