Due to laws and me being 19 I can't have anything with more than 92 bph from standard and must be restricted to 46 bhp.

Any ideas on what bike to get? I prefer naked bikes like the bandit or SV650 but I don't mind considering sports bikes. Would also like a bike where I can sit in top gear and open the throttle up for fairly quick acceleration with out having to down change. Had enough of that on a 125.

Why 2 threads?

Thing is you're not going to get a load of thump at sub 50bhp restricted so I'd suggest just changing down; it's not that big of a deal and since you're going to have 4x the power available to you currently you'll be more than happy with that for starters.

Next thing is to decide what sort of bike you want. What do YOU feel comfortable on? I've always had perched forwards type bikes but maybe my next one will be something more sit up - maybe.... What do YOU want? Go have a walk around the second hand showrooms, see what works.

Lastly what sort of budget do you reckon you're going to have a) to buy, b) to insure and c) to sort out if you get it all wrong and can't afford the excess? If you're shoe-stringing it then don't get picky, just buy something that's functional and learn to enjoy bigger bikes - they are massively different to 125's, by the way, all of them.

I didn't mean for the double posting. Have had Internet connection issues. I clicked submit and it didn't load the next web page so I clicked it again no realizing it was going to post it twice. Confused

The best one is the one that you like, that suits you, that you enjoy riding. If you ask such questions you will find yourself bombarded with a whole host of bikes to choose from and you won't be any the wiser.

Best thing to do is make a list of bikes, search google images and check out what YOU like. Make the decision for yourself, after all YOU will be riding it. Cool

CBR500R or the F or the X version to suit your preferred style.
ER6F for a sportier look. ER6N for a naked look.

I passed 4 odd years ago, I got an RVF 400 for my first bike, restricted to 33 bhp, that was a great bike

V4 so sounds awesome and lots of low down grunt, was plenty quick, would do over 100 no problem and was quicker than a friends 05 cbr600rr also restricted. But best of all its one of the best handling bikes of the 90s so was real good fun on country roads

Got me through my restriction no problems and I sold it for more than a bought it for, they hold there value pretty well

That was £2500, what's your budget ?
