Hi, Just got my 125cc Yesterday, after being on a 50cc scooter for a while, iv pretty much got taking off and shifting up down its not a problem, but shifting down seems to be going not very well?, like when i do it sometimes the bike will kind of jerk quite a lot forwards and not sound very great, what should the revs be at to shift down? , Sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question haha

You are changing down too early. Try leaving it later before changing down and blip the throttle just before you release the clutch to raise the revs.

Remember to let the clutch lever out nice and slowly.

You need to blip the throttle a little to match the revs of the lower gear, it will still jerk a little due to engine braking but not as fast.

At what revs are you changing down?

Why not go to a deserted car park and practise changing down at different rpms until you get it right.

It is possible to change down with no jerkiness at all at quite low revs, so your comment above is not particularly accurate.

If I can change down on my 750 smoothly, it should be possible on a 125...

Comment was accurate relative to the OP's question.

You merely told him the obvious.

Most bikers use engine braking.
