Poll is too limiting.

I have been seen to wear a non conforming to safety standards helmet (its a parasport helmet which bends in your hands).

Again, depends, most of the time.

If I'm nipping up to the shop, jacket helmet gloves

If I'm going over the motorway and it's cold, textiles, if I'm going over the motorway and it's warm, I may wear my two piece I may just wear the jacket boots helmet gloves

I will save you your market research. Here's what you can present:

Motorcyclists, when on the road ALWAYS wear a helmet (it's the law init).

When on the road, motorcyclists can wear extra safety gear.

Poll as said is very limiting.
Depends on time and place.
When it's pouring down with rain do you seriously expect only helmet and gloves?
When it's 30 degrees heatwave do you really expect full leathers?

On a positive note it's nice you ask the adults to help with your homework.
End report though is must try harder!

You need an "almost always" option.

I wear my gear 99% of the time, but occasionally if I am only going a few miles on 30mph roads, I sometimes will not wear it all (depending on my mood) - but I always wear some of it (ignoring the mandatory helmet).

The item I most often fail to wear is armoured jeans/textile trousers, and very occasionally my boots (although so far that has been exactly twice).

I have yet to ride without my gloves and textile jacket.

Note, if it's raining I wear my gear even on these short journeys as it's waterproof.

Minimum I wear is decent boots, jeans and my biker jacket, always gloves and helmet too to go to the club for work, local shops etc.

Bike training work either full leathers or textiles, bike boots etc.

Long journeys full gear.

Well, to expand on my response...

"Depends"

I started riding, had a jacket and some heavy jeans, helmet and gloves.

Started going for the shorts/tshirt/converse option.

Went to full gear and had an accident, gear was pretty helpful.

Over the years I've been using the jacket more often than not, textile trousers in cold weather, when its warm enough I'll wear jeans.

In Spain, I wore a tshirt, jeans and helmet with some light gloves, pretty lightweight ones, next to no padding on them.

Situations make me decide what gear to wear, shit day, wet weather/textiles, full gear etc.

1 thing I've not worn properly in years is boots. The last boots I wore and crashed in caused my ankles to obliterate themselves as they had some weird support stuff on the side and a strap round the back which compressed when they hit the floor, shattering the bit in the middle... Laughing

Always, but then I'm a new rider and anything I can do to limit injury is worth doing.

I wear gloves and helmet without fail. I feel more comfortable with them. Everything else is dependent on were I'm going and the weather.

I selected always but it varies a lot depending on conditions or mood.

Always a minimum of Kevlar jeans, leather jacket and boots (old army ones), gloves and lid (not always a legal one). I tend not to bother with the CE armour inserts if I'm not going far or not using motorways.

Rainy days the leather jacket gets swapped for a textile (with armour inserts because they are a pain in the arse to remove) and either textile trousers or just some old army crisp packet overtrousers to cover the jeans.

Gloves vary from pretty thin leather when it's hot, to thick padded winter ones when it's cold/wet

Lids are all open face, so I wear sunglasses to protect the eyes. CE approved and supposedly won't shatter in to a dozen pieces and slice my eyes apart in a crash.

Hope that helps with your presentation

What is your definition of protective gear?

To what minimum standard are we calling protective? Flip flops off some, may be minimal protection, but still wear them.

This is the results of an old poll I did a while back, gives a bit more detail about specific gear used/not used.https://i62.tinypic.com/hu52za.jpg

My point is that while you feel you're wearing "all the gear" it is only in your head that it makes you feel safer, there is still more and more safety you can add, even those that protest safety is everything and will always wear ALL the gear, still make some sacrifice of their safety, but to their own acceptable level.

most of the time for me.

normally i wear the mandatory helmet, a leather jacket, gloves and boots. i do have leather trousers but i mainly just wear jeans/cargo trousers and crack on with it.

last summer i had a couple of days (which is the entire summer) where i rode in just a tshirt, jeans gloves, boots and helmet. i still felt safe (in my head) as i found i rode with a different attitude upon acknowledgement my skin was exposed to the road.

family was a bit uneasy about it, so i occasionally put on a back protector aswell (but again not often as i felt i looked like a pillock)
