I'm thinking about getting a pair to use in the summer instead of my textile trousers. It would mean not having to change in work (I assume they are comfortable enough to wear all day in an office).

My main concern is how warm they are. I've worn jeans on my bike and am normally freezing when I get off. I appreciate the summer is likely to be warmer but we all know how up and down our lovely weather can be. So do they keep the wind chill out?

You usually have a Kevlar inner with denim over the top. I occasionally wear mine all day, but they aren't as comfortable as normal pair of jeans and they get a bit hot. It's a bit like wearing two pairs of jeans.

I treat my kevlar jeans as overtrousers, and put them on over my work trousers. 30 seconds to get changed.

Seeing as this thread may turn into a thread on the pros and cons of various kinds of Kevlar jeans, I'll get it started. Mine are Hood jeans, because they were the cheapest and most normal looking at the time. I've been riding in them for about 10 years (2 pairs) and had a few crashes, where they worked. The sizing comes up big, if you're a 34 waist then a pair of 34 Hood jeans will fit over your normal trousers.

I have a pair of Draggin which are also quite warm and look like normal black jeans, I use an old pair as chainsawing trousers and they have saved me once locking up the chain on impact!!!
Also have some Ixon with knee inserts which arent as warm and you' look abit weird walking around at work with knee protectors in Embarassed

I wear oxford super sliders in black all day at work, I ride there in them, wear them all day, ride home in them.

I've work them on nights out in town too!

They look exactly like a pair of black jeans and are just as comfy. I don't find them too worn either.

I'm not sure how they would hold up in n off but hopefully I never will be!

Only time I don't wear them on the bike is if it's really cold. Or if I'm going for a ride out then I wear my leathers.

...and I have a pair by Arlen Ness that I wear when it's too hot for leathers or it's a quick trip to the shops, or if I have to appear vaguely approachable at meetings etc. Had them for 3 years.
They're long in the leg so don't ride-up when sat on the bike. Knee armour with pathetic hip protection made from foam.
The kevlar lining is minimal.

Haven't read replies, but I'll assume a +1 to Hood jeans is appropriate.

They look normal, ride high to cover a bit of your back, fit like normal sized jeans, have good kevlar coverage.

They get hot and sweaty in summer but are cooler than jeans with textiles over the top.

I wear the 30 quid fleabay specials branded as "Force Riders". Cut fairly generously making them comfortable to wear during the day and pretty warm, armour pockets are situated well. Not windproof but not as effected as normal jeans. Worn them up the M4 from Swindon to Cardiff and was a little chilly on the lower legs where there isn't a Kevlar layer.

Wife has Hornee's which do seem better quality but cost a lot more, she's got a pair of Draggin camo ones too and quality wise they seem in a league of their own but come with a price tag to match. I had a pair of Hornee cargo's but ended up giving them away as they cut their trousers for people that like the bee gee's kind of tight fit.

On comfortable to wear all day - yes, if you don't fit knee pads and don't have a super hot office. Knee pads look like knee cancer and you can't really fit/remove them quickly as they are a pain to align.

I wear dark black close weave Draggin' jeans with self-added knee armour as work wear, pretty much every day, let alone summer.

Warmth, well, it's like one-and-a-half layers overall. The knee armour insulates you well enough.

I can't be doing with faffing around, I'd recommend giving them a try. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend Draggin', I'll be trying Hood for my next pair when these ones finally wear away.

I got a pair of red routes from j and s on the sale, found them to be really comfy and has a zip on the back to attach your jacket.
I was going to buy hood's but they have hiked the price up from £100 to £145 with no option to get them without armour.
EDIT:
Just noticed there back down to £120 without armour Confused

you need to have a look inside to see how much of a kevlar lining each manufacturer includes, it varies greatly!

don't bother with oxford super sliders, they really scrape the barrel

I've only experienced one make of kevlar lined jeans and thats Sartso's Killer.
They've only ever been worn out on weekend jaunts in the decent weather and probably still have last years ice-cream stains on.
They feel quite thick and they're heavy which probably makes for decent protection but on a hot day at the office you may struggle a bit with these.

The only problem I've had is that I've yet to find a pair that zip onto the back of my jacket, so I always feel like my bum is hanging out.

Any clothing alteration place should be able to sort you out.

I have a pair of aldi ones with armour in the knees, they're very comforable but are oversized (and i've lost weight so they're even baggier) the kevlar content is very minimal though in these, just a few large patches in 'key' locations so majority is just denim

I have a pair of Oxford ones. (at least they are advertised Oxford). Cant fault them. They are comfortable enough to wear all day when doing my instructor work and I once wore them to a gig.

I crashed at over 60mph in my Hood jeans and injured my foot, my wrist and my elbow. My legs were fine.

That all depends how you crashed though, if you slid or not. They are only abrasion resistant.

I live in kevlar jeans, I have several pairs, find them perfectly comfortable day-to-day... they're a good compromise to proper gear IMO, but I don't kid myself that they're going to be fantastic in an off.

I slid for a good long way, on my backside.

RST with armour for me, I only use them for short journeys where it's too warm for a one piece. Good jeans and they feel quite substantial.
