Electric or manual choke

What do you guys prefer? I have ordered a manual, as my electric choke is temperamental in the cold weather.

Would rather have control of my choke than a magic computer. But with EFI, it does it all auto anyway.

I've not had an electric one that's been problematic, so prefer them.

I'd love to fit an auto choke on mine. Nothing more annoying than pissing about with a choke.

Yep B1h kawasaki does have a manual choke, don't know how that works mind.

MY K100 had a 'manual' choke lever but all it did was up the tickover speed.
The EFI did all the actual 'choking' by richening the mixture based on engine temp.
Cant speak for other bikes of course, but would be surprised to see a flap on the intake of any EFI motor like you get on a carbed one.

My fi VFR800 has a manual choke but it operates a starter valve rather than a butterfly valve or "plunger" type choke.

My old 750 turbo had a 2 position "fast idle" (or as Bike magazine termed it, fast idle and bloody fast idle). Kawasaki EFI on that, worked fine. Current FZS1000 has a manual cable-operated choke, but since Ivanising, doesn't need choke in anything but the coldest weather

The efi bonnies have them as well iirc. Although like paddy says, might just be an idle screw with a bigger knob on.

Yeah I like the fast idler on the fi duc. It'll do 40-50mph on the flat which is a nice stable speed should you need 2 hands to rummage in the tankbag or take a photo....so I've been told.

The manual choke on my other bike is like playing a game. If it's proper cold then full choke. If still warm...That's where the fun is.

I am convinced my eletric choke is dicking about was thinking about replacing it with manual one because its cheaper.

Not pain as such, but when the engine isn't stone cold it's deciding whether I can use a little throttle and no choke or just a bit of choke. It fires up within a couple of kicks regardless.

When in that position I generally start it with full choke then decrease it until it's down to a sensible idle speed.

going from the manual choke on my hornet to the auto choke on my fazer I much prefer the auto, although I did like having the ability to adjust myself if it wasn't starting properly

Never had a bike with an auto choke feature.

Nor had a car with one either. I did drive one for a little while and thought it was great that, I didn't have to adjust the speeed of the engine when I needed lights, heater, back window element on etc. I could have the heater on full sweaking so much it deafens and yet I didn't need to keep turning it off when I got to the first few junctions to hear the engine.

Manual choke's annoying, you have to think hmm... what's the weather like, when's the last time I rode my bike. If it's too warm the bike doesn't want to start with it fully on, too cold and it won't start halfway.
