Silly parking tickets

Two months ago after buying my CBF125 the previous day, I set off for my first ever journey on UK roads from Crawley to Loughborough (took a bit of time). I was slightly nervous to say the least and stopped in London to get some chicken across the road from the picture, directly in sight of my bike. In comes this parasite disguised as a traffic warden on his shitty trike and stops at the junction to merge onto the main road, right next to my bike.

I saw the entire ordeal go down, he took a quick glance at my bike then back at road ahead and moved a couple of inches forward to fill the gap between him the car in front. Then he took a second glance at my bike followed by a third to realise that my front tyre is ever so slightly out of the parking line. It was so close that my disc brakes were directly above the parking line. I remember the exact moment when he took the plunge and took satan's love stick in his colon as he pulled over and took out the ticket machine.

I ofcourse went there before he wrote the ticket and explained that the reason I was so close to the line is that much like in the picture, there was a car parked behind me and another behind it with almost no room to spare so I simply left a bit of space between me and the first car so he doesn't get blocked. The leech was having none of it and wrote me a ticket. I wasn't obstructing the road by even a millimeter, nor the kerb for pedestrians, nor the water going into the drain. What the hell was the ticket for? Prick was enforcing law just for the sake of it without thinking what that law is there for in the first place.

Anyway, I'm new to the roads so maybe I missed something completely that you folks may know. What's your silliest parking ticket?[/img]

Did you? Looking down? after making sure the wheel wasn't over the line? Also, where the box ends there's a gap before the double reds. Are there any signs that say park in the bays only at the all of the entrances to that road? If not then just because you were out of the bay doesn't mean you're in the wrong, contest it.

Got one recently in a small out of town parade of shops.

Over grown tree/bush sticking out in parking bay so parked just avoiding scraping on side of van.

It wasn't really a issue as a car was parked right across the next two bays making it useless. The guy/cunt was sitting in a van opposite waiting and must have printed the ticket the moment I pulled in as he'd put a ticket on the window before I'd even got out of the van.
I questioned why the car across two bays was not getting a ticket and he wasn't interested. I suspect it was all part of the set up to make it more tempting to park there.
Anyway I appealed the ticket and won but it still annoyed me that they target people in this way and lots probably just pay to get the early payment discount and for an easy life.

Scouse cunts. You can pay to park in a pay & display bay and get a fine for essentially giving them money or park in a free bay that's likely nowhere near where you actually need so you have to walk through Liverpool dressed like a knob. Or park on the pavement out of everybody's way and get a fine for that as well.

Thing is if they allowed motorbikes, they could get more vehicles to a bay so it'd earn them more money, but no. Motorcycles are banned.

I have used this analogy before. Taken from football and tennis the generally accepted perception is that if it's on the line (tyre/wheel in this case) then it's in.

So I'd contest the parking ticket. It causes a little more work although I'd think they just have a pro-forma 'refused' letter. Then take it up to the next appeal level.

For comparison in York the car park markings are so old. Probably designed for Morris Minors in the 1950s. Talked to one of their parking officers after trying to get the car into a space next to a 4x4. His view was that if the wheels are on the line it's in the space and nothing they can do.

Also in York you can park a bike in a residential area without a permit, so no fines. So that's good :up, but doesn't help OP
