Been perving at GSXRs and Hayabusas, as I've decided I don't deserve to be lumbered with a piece of shit bike which eats money.

Came across a GSXR1000 K7 for £3k, 4k miles on the clock.

Assuming no typos and given there's no mention of crash damage so no Cat C or anything, this seems rather cheap. A little too cheap.

What would you be looking out for on this?

Cat C or D would be my guess. I was looking at their Dragstar 250 for £1000 and they ignore my emails asking if it's ever been cat c or d.

They also have a GSXR750 K3 with "slight second gear issues at times" for £1000.

Thats got to be easy money for anyone who has a clue about fixing bikes.....

Would love to, but by the time I'm ready to buy someone else will probably have snagged it.

Looks like all their bikes are cheap.

k3 gsxr 750 for £1k
Benelli TRE 900 (brand new, unregistered) £3,500
FZ1 2006 for £2,500
Ducati 848 evo corse SE with termi's for £5k
YZF125R for £1,500
The list goes on...

Does seem a little odd that there bikes are so cheap and their not just cheap they all seem to come with warranty and look mint. As the OP said, seems too good to be true. I'd certainly be wary and would love to know their excuse for why the bikes are priced so low.

You've got the reg for the gsxr your interested in, why don't you HPI check it?

Not if it means a complete engine strip to fix it...
Some could do it, I would suggest most wouldn't want to try.

If they're trying to make a go of a business in selling bikes with problems, and then are not going to be up front about those problems, I don't fancy their chances much - not to mention all the aggro they're going to bring down on themselves with angry customers.

But hell, yeah, phone em and see what they say. If they're cagey and not forthcoming, steer clear.

That does seem way to cheap to me... Could be an import maybe but I'm guessing cat D or worse.

Haha I was just looking at their R1 and thinking the same thing! They are an Official Yamaha dealer if that means anything

EDIT; They have an 848 Evo Corse for £5k, something is definitely up

'Finance example on this across 36 months the bike can be owned from as little as £99 down and at £174 a month,.'

That is the real price of the bike.

Just did a text HPI check for shits and giggles.

10 points to wr6133.

Came back as:

Written off: Yes - Cat D
Stolen/Recovered: No
Scrapped: No
Exported:No

Former keepers: 3
Last change: 17/11/2009

There was a flag on this bike - for more comprehensive check use hpicheck.com blah blah blah

So cat D - how bad can that be? Can't imagine it being much more than cosmetic damage. Though that "flag" does suggest a little more to it.

Seems strange as the bikes they are selling on ebay are very cheap yet on their used bike website their bikes are not such a bargain.
2001 blackbird with 27,000miles for 3.5k

edit- so they offload the dodgy stuff on ebay and sell the straight stuff in their shop. Bit off that they don't mention it being a cat d in the ad. I woudn't be that worried about it being a cat d but would be wary of what else its hiding.

Does seem very cheap. Low mileage for a now 7 year old bike, possible got written off Cat D and sat in someones garage for a long time?

Could well be a bargain if it's in good nick -

Possibly worth a view with a very sceptical face on?

Thumbs Up

My view?

The cheap ones will be the ones that they took in as part-exchange.

They just want shot of them as quickly as possible for as close to the part-ex value as they can get.

I'd expect them to honour the warrenty but not much more than that.

Still cheap for a Cat D that's been fixed. I'd say it's worth buying if there is paperwork to back up the mileage.

Yeah, too many alarm bells for me to go beyond curiosity, last bike I bought fucked me in all holes so can't be dealing with anything that has potential give me further grief. I'd have to get someone savvy to go with me if I was to view it mind.

If you look at the feedback the items bought from that account are completely different to the current offers.
It looks like a hacked account, there are some very strange things like an smart looking Jaguar for £499 that 'does not run'.

Cat D is generally cosmetic so I wouldn't be put off to much by that, just drive for the lowest price possible because obviously it effects resale value. Mechanically though a Cat D should be fine. Insurers are write off happy my wife had a car written off as a cat D after a 10 mph shunt that just made the rear bumper fall off.... that was it, new rear bumper and the car would have been mint again yet it was written off.

Cat C would require more indepth inspection as that can be more than cosmetic so opens up a fair scope for the seller to have bodged stuff. Can be a bargain but you want to be sure of what's been done and pay a rock bottom price.

That said I would worry about buying from a company that seems to make a business of punting on insurance write off's as I'm sure in pursuit of the £££ they will have cut corners.

Agreed on all above, but an unregistered Benelli 900 for 3.5k Shocked That's giving it away! And that can't be a cat D or anything.

The Tuono, 2011, 4800 miles, £1800 Shocked Shocked

There is another on ebay, same miles, same year advertised at £8499.00.

Something very fishy.

0205 - just checked out, believe it's quite new (didn't even know they'd gone past 0207/0208 or whatever.)

Prices are very suspicious.
But do note that you won't get feedback for a classified sale.

I'd start by calling up and asking if you can pop in to see it and see what they say.

As above; even for write-offs, the prices are very low. Frankly you see places offering not-repaired written off bikes for a good chunk more than that!

Write off category wouldn't bother me.
