Well today I went to start my gixxer after a few months of being sat there in the garage.

I'd had the trickle charger on since last night to liven up the battery, and it seems ok.

As soon as I plug the battery in, the datatool alarm goes off (an absolutely maddening racket), but the problem is that the disarm button (the O button) does not disarm the alarm. The issue is complicated, so here goes my best explanation.

Basically when the O button is pressed, rather than going "beep" to signify the alarm disarming, all I hear is a nasty sounding screech. Sometimes the alarm will stop sounding, others it just carries on, but if it does stop it just starts back up again after 1-20 seconds (vague right?).

If the alarm doesn't start back up straight away and I try starting the bike, I just get a sound which seems to be the injectors squirting (pumpish sound, I could be wrong) but no relay click or seemingly any attempt to actually start.

If the alarm doesn't start back up straight away and I press the O button again, I get the screech followed immediately by the alarm going off again.

I have tried:

New battery in fob
New battery in bike
Jumping bike from car battery
Bump starting the bike
disconnecting the internal battery in the alarm/reconnecting

I am pulling my hair out over this, and the sound of the alarm is the sort of sound that makes you seethingly angry with it in a matter of seconds, so you can imagine my mood after 3 hours of fiddling.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. My only local dealer is a daylight robbery specialist.

Not sure if this will help but when i had my car it had an aftermarked alarm/imobiliser.

Basically it broke, no idea why. It was doing the same thing as your bike. I took the fuse for the alarm out and it worked. Just couldnt use the alarm.

This could be a temp fix?

I had a similar issue on a car that was only used for weekends.

If the battery didnt have sufficient charge in it then that same as the above would happen.

Perhaps try getting some more charge in the battery. (hopefully it's something as simple as this!)

Have you tried re-syncing the remote and then putting it into service mode?

The datatool manuals are all available online.

I have a veto evo fitted to mine. Believe it has unsynched twice since buying the bike 2 years ago (second time only a couple of days ago actually).

Try resynching first before ripping out fuses (should work while alarm is still going off) by holding down both triangle and circle close to where the alarm unit is on the bike for around 20 seconds.

have you tried resetting it?

remove bike battery and alarm internal battery, or let the alarm run flat if you can't remove the internal battery, once flat it will start again fresh

or de-spike it, follow instructions here https://old.datatool.co.uk/pdfs/veto_evo_ds.pdf
