PostPosted: 17:49 - 11 Feb 2014    Post subject: Suzuki EN 125? Reply with quote

Hi, any opinions on the Suzuki EN 125? I am looking for a general run around, reliable, to last me about 4/5 years, using it about 3000 mile a year, with little maintenance as possible because I am a bike patzer.

I have been reading around and getting something of a mix of reviews. From what I gather it is an import and mostly very reliable but not as good as other Suzuki/Honda/Yamaha 125s as it is made in China.

Is this correct, would you recommend the bike?

thanks.

It all begins with your budget. Have budget then look at bikes within that budget. Wink

Around £800-950.

I fancy Suzuki GN 125, Honda CG 125 then the other possible option is this one.

There are no bikes coming up in my area at the moment it seems, it is a little frustrating but just a case of keep on looking. Bikes to suit are coming up but too far away, like 220 miles. Or one pops up local and it is cat c and dented etc.

I've had a GN125 awesome and bullet proof.

only thing is to keep an eye on the chain as it does need tightening a lot more then other bikes (that's what I found anyway)

Plus the front brake can be really squeaky lol.

YBR is probably made in China but the CBF is made in India I believe.

It was this one I was looking at:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-EN125-2005-GREAT-COMMUTER-BIKE-LOOKS-RIDES-GREAT-12-MONTH-T-T-RIDE-AWAY-/121272494686?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item1c3c676a5e

Looks in very good condition but quite high mileage?

The GNs that are coming up are either above budget at the moment (selling via dealers, marked up) too far away or damaged. I am not paying up to 1k for a damaged bike??

EN125 is a grey import, which means problems with insurance and parts. I wouldn't.

Hi OK thanks a lot. I will stick to the GN as I don't like the sound of that really. Cheers.

This looks so much like the lexmoto vixens / HN-125's??

Would it not be better to buy one of them for next to nothing brand new and run it into the ground??

Yes was looking at those but not even sure if they will last 4 years to be honest...

I have found a possible GN on ebay, it is a £1000 with low mileage, 5000, looks OK:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GN-125-/261387225664?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3cdbe48a40

Any thoughts on this bike? I have seen them higher priced than this for the mileage from dealers so not sure why this is, maybe as MOT is due in April.

I'd not have a Suzuki if I wanted it to last, I'd have a YBR.

Although I'd die if I had a 125 for anything longer than a year Sad

Why wont the Suzuki GN last, I thought they were typical 'bullet proof' bikes, unless you meant issues with rust?

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/mcn/bikereviews/searchresults/bike-reviews/suzuki/suzuki-gn125-1994--2001/
The Suzuki GN125 is a tough little bike with a trusted engine and chassis. The finish isn’t marvellous: rust around welds and shoddy paintwork are common complaints. . ....The Suzuki GN125 engine’s taken from the earlier GS125 machine which came out in 1984, so it’s safe to say it’s proved itself.

To be fair, he isn't the one buying a GN rust bucket over a YBR...

3 years, used in all weathers, just through its first MOT with no advisories.

I'd have another, and I'd likely have it over a GN125 at the same price.

And I am not gay.

OP came in chat, we told him not to buy it and now he is just waiting for someone to give him the answer he wants.

Not true, I posted here first but was waiting for a response as the buyer was trying to rush my decision (says a lot are interested etc, etc) so I came into chat in the hopes of getting a bit of genuine honest advice. So what did I get? "It is gay and shit. If you like it you are gay." etc, etc. Yeah, thanks a lot mate. As I said total idiot. Middle Finger You too.

...And what is the obsession with the YBR? Am I the only person in the world who thinks these are over-rated?
