A local council emergency team were called in to investigate. After much standing around and scratching of heads: Thinking Yep, it's a hole. Tea break lads!

Our road people are rather scared, they get scared easily. Will close a motorway if a car skids into a barrier. In Spain, fuck that, police attend, drag cars out of the way and let you pass. I bet they'd have filled it in by now and only have shut the outside lanes. Rolling Eyes

Curious, what offence would you commit by overtaking one of these?

None, but I think it's an offence to not follow their instructions.

My daughter was stuck next to this for 4 hours on a school trip. The trip wasnt to see the hole however. Class of 30 six year olds stuck on a coach with no loo. When they eventually got moving again they were taken to Mac Donalds... For a glass of water!?!

Typical school looking after the kids. They won't allow fatty foods or fizzy drinks.

Hmm... I've seen various bikes and cars shoot past them, just wondering if there was anything stopping me doing so. I'm not a prick for one, but they do literally just hold the traffic at 40 for 2 junctions every few months for "traffic calming purposes" although the next 20 miles are completely clear Rolling Eyes

Got any citation for that? I didn't think they had any "specific" power other than "Please do keep off the grass" kinda stuff. Laughing

Yea neither did I until the S172 flopped on the doormat.

https://www.nationaltraffic.co.uk/welcome.html

Anyway, the TS offence is the least of your worries. If you disobey them then they can try and get a dangerous driving charge pinned on you - depending on the circumstances of course. Mind you they did try it on with me and the 'danger' was a broom head in lane 1...

Laughing

So... how would they report you if they didn't get the number plate... also..

Failing to comply with their request. If they're just driving at 40 and have made a request to you, then there's nothing for you to comply with?
