The headlight must be within the tolerances of the headlight tester, so long as you can adjust it you should be fine really, a friendly tester may adjust it for you, or let you adjust it there and then if it is out.

A kmx is a motorcycle primarily designed for off road use. If it fails on the lights, tape up ALL the lights, dash repeaters and switches for them with black insulating tape/gaffa and resubmit. It should then get a daylight only MOT which provides you with the appropriate piece of paper for the next 12 months. This is known as "exploiting a loophole" as off road bikes do not HAVE to have lights fitted for the MOT, taping them up counts as "not fitted".

If I get a daylight MOT, that means I cant go out at night etc Question

If it does, im just gonna put a road legal one on just for the MOT Razz

Hi

Think these rules only apply to bikes that were never fitted with lights, and as such taping them up is a bit of a bodge aimed at the friendly MOT tester.

All the best

Hi

Think I would read that as any bike registered after 1 January 1931 must have a headlight.

All the best

Keith

Hi

But further down in the infomation it states categories of bikes that do not need a headlight. Assuming it is not a 50 then it is pretty much limited to A motor bicycle first used before 1 January 1931 does not need a headlamp.

Playing devils advocate a little I know, but although I can see what you mean that they are listing situation where the test is not relevant, they are also specifying the bikes where those situations are relevant.

All the best

Keith
