Some of you might know I'm over in Germany just now. Staying at the GF's parents place. Well they've loaned me their car while they're away. We took a trip to Vienna in Austria yesterday for new year. Then on the way back this morning on the Autobahn somewhere in Austria the speed limit was reduced for a small part of it to 100kmph. Since the road was so empty with it being new years day and 8am, I was doing 160kmph at that particular moment. I got flashed by some hidden camera. Shit! Does anyone know what will happen? Are they going to get a fine through their door now? Will I get points on my license?

They have points systems elsewhere, it's just that they aren't 'compatible' systems . |

Ah, the ticket will have possibly have been sent to the address of the car's owners. As far as i know it's a simple fine of usually about 100 euros (i'm not too sure, but i guess that's what my friend had to pay over there when he was speeding doing 200km/h down the autobahn on his dad's car.) But during my stint there i've noticed that people do speed conservatively, not that it's a bad thing. Just a shame u've been caught.
Off topic slightly, but had u been driving a diplomatic car, you "DONT" really have to pay your fine, which is what my mates were doing (parents were diplomats). So make sure if u want to speed in Austria have "AD" plates ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

the owner will get a letter asking who was the driver, if they say it was you, give all your details (uk address) etc someone might come round, ask to see the owner, to check that it really isn't them, comparing the photo (but they probably won't bother unless the owner has done this a few times)
they can send a fine to you in the uk, but they usually don't
edit: just read it was austria not germany, maybe austria do it differently, i'm not sure. in holland, the vehicle owner gets fined, whether he was driving or not
german points don't affect you driving in the uk, but if you are resident in germany and driving on a uk licence, they do give you points (kept on computer, not printed on the licence) and can ban you from german roads ____________________ "There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them - but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one.
