The Drift range is best by far for your intended use IMO.
Drift HD (before Ghost) is in your price range and shares mounts and more should you change later.
But the Ghost is better, and the new Ghost S better still (at a price) but does perform well in low light.
Drift cameras can be screwed on a standard tripod style mount so you have a range of options like clamps and suction mounts at reasonable cost.

Yup, I'm happy with my SJ1000. I went bonkers and got a 2nd battery and a standalone charger for the sum total of £11 delivered as well so that I always have a fresh one to drop in.
The SJ4000 GoPro Hero copy-camera might be worth a look if you want to spend a bit more.
Reliability and warranty is the concern with no-brand cameras, it depends how cheap and risk tolerant you are. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I've just bought a Drift HD for 99 quid. If you can wait a couple of days for me to get my hands on it and set it up [probably in the car for the next couple of weeks] i'll try give a review of it. Mounting-wise for helmet purposes it seems a good bet |

Shame the SJ2000 isn't highly rated, still not sure about the whole camera thing anyway, it would be nice if it started recording when you used the horn ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

The Drift HD Ghost has a video loop setting which allocates a bit of the memory card and continuously records, then when you come across something interesting/scary/painful you hit a button on the wristwatch remote and it saves the last 30 seconds of footage + the next 30 seconds in one handy clip.
I think that timeframe can be adjusted too.
Turns out the HD comes with a remote as well so I assume it can do the same but for much less ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

I stand corrected. I assumed Drift would add that as a simple software update, all the hardware is there surely?
Not long ago they added a drive recorder function to the Ghost just for the hell of it, which switches on and starts loop recording automatically when power is supplied by the ignition. Might be a bit more suitable as a crash cam should the worst happen ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

Moar mounts!
This accessory pack is brilliant. The ones usually sold by Drift come in packs of five but you either get 5x flat or 5x curved, which for me was too many of the same thing. This seller seems to have a load of mounts and does handy 3 + 3 of each
I've got one on my bike helmet, one on my work helmet, a couple of flat ones on the bike etc They're also all within lanyard-ing distance of something solid to loop around just in case. ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |
