Logans Run style time limit on celebrities?

Should Celebs be killed off after a set number of hours of media exposure?. Perhaps in some sort of televised event?

I thought this up after watching Eight out of ten cats. Jimmy Carr and pals are amusing but I must admit I'm a bit sick of them.

We already have a mechanism for this, it's called the press.

People with no obvious talent seek celebrity, the press are happy to give it to them, as long as they sell papers, then when they get bored, or the z lister does something a bit off colour, they either get a public crucifiction or, perhaps worse, they get ignored and fall off the radar.
