The story started back in 2006 when I first got the bike in a crate all the way from god knows where in the Far East for the princely sum of £695.

Yes all 6.5bhp from the 110cc engine and maxing out at 42mph.

Roll on a few months and a few km and the bike started to evolve a little. First thing was a longer swing arm (+13cm over standard) with a mono shock conversion as well as some engine dress kits. All pretty standard but great little bike about town and even had a brief go at green laning on it.

Cue the wife having the only go on the bike in the back garden before her CBt, dumped the clutch, loads of right hand and smashed into the wall at the end of the garden resulting in a broken wrist a day or so before her birthday! Not too much damage except a cracked head light case and a scuffed mudguard. Why she hung on and didn't let go of the bike I'll never know?

Move on a few more months and the bike gets put away in the garage in 2009 as moved to Australia...and back again 6 months later

Not too shabby for a Chinese bike that covered 1500km in all kinds of weather and not fully taken care of. Only real fault was a leaky seal to the bottom of the fuel tank, a common problem on these tanks.

Roll on the bike being SORN for nearly 2 years and the itch to use it stats again, well namely after the GSXR got stolen and thought I'd use this to commute on...all 50 miles a day?

It sounded good in my mind.

So, the 110 was never going to cut it so opened the cheque book and started to order some parts and the bike started to look a little different and boasted a new 17bhp 140ccengine.

Only needed to get the mirrors and number plate mounted and so e fuckers nicked it one night a few days before the MOT. The police managed to find the bike and even the young punk that nicked it but the bike was a sad state.

I just could be bothered to fix it so sat on it for a while before selling.

Roll on January 2014 when I picked up another Skyteam, this time from a dealer and boasted as standard a 125cc engine!

As using this on the 20 mile a day commute thought I would be more subtle in the mods for this bike. The 8.5l fuel tank and 125 engine is good enough for nearly 100mpg and only costs £8 to fill up.

The standard gearing of 15/31 means the bike pulls away sharpishbut wheelies at any given moment in 1st, 2nd and even attempts in 3rd making it a little un rideable in slow moving traffic so this was changed to a 16/28 from reading a good compromise on the net and certainly makes the lower end of the gear box more user friendly. Top speed is indicated to be anywhere from 60-65mph depending on head wind!

The brakes are the worst part and need addressing. I still need to convert the rear drum to a disc but just need to wait for some new brackets to allow the master cylinder to fit. The front needs a twin pot and bigger disc. I have seen a twin dic set up for £299 but may be a little overkill, looks good mind!

So far the rear has had the attention with a +10cm swingarm, a rear inner fender / splash guard and a very loud underbelly twin exhaust.
