Making Your Web Browser Think It's In A Different Country

I've just moved to Berlin from the UK and Germany is a bit of a pain with things like youtube (thanks GEMA), iPlayer and all that stuff.

I know there are apps that you can install into browsers to trick websites into thinking you're in a different country (excuse my lack of technical explanation, I am a techno retard with computers), are there any recommendations? I have seen there are a few in the apps store for chrome but they all seem to get similar reviews so was wondering if anyone had first hand experience with anything extra good. Or any other suggestions that might be better (although techno noob friendly).

I am using Google Chrome and would rather not change browsers.

I've found the limited number of overseas IP addresses it offers are banned by one or two sites, but worth trying.

I paid about $30 for a year. It gets the best reviews for all uses including torrents if that is your thing.

I am using Zenmate now. I'd heard of proxys and thought someone might bring it up but that stuff is a bit much for me. I just wanted to watch youtube without GEMA giving me the finger and watch Top Gear on iPlayer. I don't download anything so that doesn't really come into it for me.

I guess if it stops working then I'll just try another extension. I don't really want to pay anything just to watch Top Gear and some youtube videos I could probably live without. I'd probably be more productive without these distractions anyway

When I want to get around the virgin media filter for primewire etc etc.

Connection is too slow to actually stream on, but once you have the links you can disconnect from the vpn and stream fine through normal connection.

Daily changing password, so you need to visit the site once every 24hrs to get the new password.

You may find filmon.com kind of useful now you've moved abroad. I use it every now and again when I want to remember quite how much I don't miss the UK telly.
