Won a load of fairings on ebay for the TL1000r project today, but I don't think the guys going to post them as he wants collection.

Is there anyone on here that lives close that doesn't mind picking them up for me and just sticking them in a box or two and posting?

I'll cover any fuel cost getting the fairings and postage and chuck £10 in it for you to buy yourself some drinks down the pub Friday.

Would be great if someone could help out. I'd rather not have to drive 4 hours and pay 60 quid in fuel if I can help it as I'm south west London and they are quite a track away.

Thanks mate. Wouldn't ask anyone to do that kind of mileage for a favour anyway!

Do you have a rough idea of how they will all be?
i.e. Would I be able to strap them on to the back of the bike?

Nope - sounds like a car job. Maybe even HGV. Laughing

How close are you Andy? I'm a bit of a way, out near Foggathorpe. Could do it, but might take a while and am a bit worried about possibility of scaring up some decent packaging - have been in similar position a couple of times w/ eBay shit. Seems supermarkets don't have / keep / give you boxes like they used to.

edit - checked profile. Scarborough. Huh - about the same as me then.

Thanks for all the help.

Looks like I'm going to have to do this run after all. There's more fairings than I thought looking at the auction again, and I've also got my eye on and exhaust and subframe in Bradford as well, so might as well get the lot in one go to make it worthwhile on the fuel and save everyone else's hassle.

Not looking forward to it though, will be at least 10 hours driving I reckon.

So if anyone needs anything moving from Hampshire to York then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Dom

Out of interest, if I've gotta go to both Driffield and Idle, in Bradford, coming from the M25 and up the M1, which would be best to go via first?

I've done a maps to Idle, then to Driffield, and back..... 532 miles. Or Driffield then Idle, and it's 529 miles. 1 min difference in journey time.

Where am I most likely to get held up and which is the nicer way back? I'd rather do the shit on the way up, and have a decent cruise back.

Doesn't really matter which you do first, but I'd avoid Bradford in Rush hour. It's not THAT bad compared to many places, but will still take you a chunk longer.

I MIGHT be able to help out depending on my plans (how busy I am) which are up in the air at the moment - I'll drop you a message.

Tried using something like shiply? Will probably get it couriered for a less than you'll pay in petrol and saves the drive.

I would also advise avoiding Bradford entirely, were you not picking items up from there. I would just re-iterate G's point in this case.

I'm not kidding when I say it really is a free-for-all in terms of driving. People will cut from side road to side road across main roads as if *they* are on a main road.

I make sure my brakes are good before ANY trip to Bradford.

P.S. Sorry, I would help out but I only have bikes. (Unless I can help with the use of a bike).

One problem is that there are roadworks on the M18 north - these are set to cause more delays from 1/3/'14. Plus also the hard shoulder is in use and fast lane closed, either on the M18 or M1 near the M18 (need to check), and 50mph speed limit - which is causing some PITA bunching at busy times. Normally a journey north from e.g. Nottingham north to areas near Hull and beyond would be one of the better, less stressed motorway drives in England. But at the moment this might not be the case.
