NSR Derestriction Expedition

Evening!
Ive just spent the last hour or so getting my NSR down to its intake to check whether or not its restricted. When i got down to it there was a gold plate there, but it doesnt look anything like the one shown on nsr125.com - this one was quite thick and had a small piece that extended a short distance down the intake tract..

Sorry if this question seems stupid, but does anybody have any more pictures of what it should look like? The piece that stuck out had a small jutting-out-bit on the top, i would take a picture but i dont have a digital camera!

If so that is the reed valve, you need that. The restrictor plate is just a flat piece of metal with a hole in it.

What NSR have you got? import or UK model? as the way they are restricted varies between the models.

Yeah it looked a bit like that, just in gold. Its a UK bike, NSR125R i think (well clocks are in miles, so i assume its not an import..) - Sorry for the newbie-sounding question, but ive only just got this NSR Smile

What year is the bike? it will say on the V5 if it is an import also I think.

UK bikes had a restrictor in the exhaust and intake tract, sometimes a smaller rear sprocket to lower the top speed.

Imports had restrictors in the CDI and power valve system, I believe some also had the exhausts tampered with. Though these vary depending on what country they were made in.

The bike is a 1996 P, and ive only just bought it (Friday) so i havent got the V5 back from the DVLA yet... The bike has a micron exhaust on it, so i doubt its restricted that way..

Well if there is no intake restriction and it has a micron exhaust, and is without doubt a UK bike, then it is highly likely that it is fully derestricted. If it does 90mph - 100mph and 60mph in about 7 seconds then it is full power.
