Hi guys, as you can tell this is my first ever post.

I was just wondering, is it possible to tell if my CG125 is restricted or not?

Plus is there actually any need? ive always thought that because it was below 14.6bhp that it is legal (ive not even taken my CBT yet)

One last quick question; what on earth does CDI actually do? e.g. CG125 CDI

Cheers guys, safe riding.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I don't think the CG125 is restricted as standard.

A CDI is short for capacitive discharge ignition, it basically replaces a distributor and uses a series of capacitors to send a series of high voltage "pulses" through the coil, which then goes to the spark plugs to create the spark.

Hope that makes sense, I'm sure someone will be along soonish to give a better explanation.

HI...

Chances are your CG will not be restricted.
There is no need,...it is a learner legal bike, so no need for restriction.

Top speed is about low 70's at a push on a good day.

I have had mine since I passed my CBT.

CG125's are not restricted, they're full power as standard.

It is two strokes which have to be restricted to bring them inline with the learner laws. It is a four stroke and four strokes do not need to be restricted like two strokes do.

14.6bhp is indeed the limit for someone 17 or older riding on a CBT but the CG125 makes about 11bhp.
