32, no NCB, CBT, 3rd party fire & theft, commuting, 12k pa miles = £207 per year on a £1000 125.

Excess of £250

Sometimes, it's good being "old". Very Happy

On a side note, when doing quotes online, when they ask "license held since?" is that the date I passed the CBT, or would it be from when I had a provisional bike license (which will be 12 years ago) since doesn't the CBT only validate the provisional part of my license? On the paper part of my license the provisional A starts in 2002 yet I only did my CBT 2 days ago.

There's no correct answer. If you're going through a comparison site or broker, the question you're being asked might not even be what the underwriter wants to know.

Sorry, I know that's not very helpful, but I wanted to get in before anyone makes a bold assertion about what they meant to ask.

For safety's sake, and if it only makes a few £££ difference, I'd go with your CBT completion date, even if that's not what the plain wording of the question asks.

Urrrr, no. Third party insurance (what your insurer will pay out to someone that you hit) cannot have any deductions made.

Doesn't your bike make 400bhp though? Laughing

£272 TPO for me on a £700 600cc sports bike. 20 years old, student, riding other bikes, overseas riding, breakdown cover and protected no claims all included.

Was more than double that last year with only overseas riding.

£120 Fully Comp for three 600+ bikes on a 'Modern Classic' policy, no excess, SD&P + commuting and pillion.

Whereas I got quoted £900 for a 125 "sports" bike I now have no intention of buying, yet my 600 hornet costs me less than 1/3 that (a 600 sports bike would only cost me £200 more than the 125, and thats without spending more than 5 minutes shopping around)

I heard from a friend of a friend that his dads friend from work pays £12 a year on a old triumph (serious) probably bollocks though. For that price I would own a shit ton of bikes just as an investment/ feel like a boss.
