Saw this on the news this morning.

Apparently the AA are launching a "Think Once, Think Twice, Think Bike" campaign (like the old add from the 70s) and handing out a million stickers for drivers to put on their mirrors. Hopefully to remind them to look out for bikes.

https://images.bennetts.co.uk/Global/Bike%20Social/theAA/bikesticker_450.jpg

Drivers stick the motorcycle sticker on their right-hand wing mirror and the cycle sticker on the passenger side as a constant reminder of which side of the vehicle a motorbike or cycle could appear.

I feel so safe now Thumbs Up

I'm going to absolutely plaster my car's wing mirrors with those to show just how aware I am of bikes that are around me

This has got to be one of the daftest safety campaigns yet.

Just on wing mirrors I don't think will work. Needs something to remind drivers to look in the blind spot (lifesaver) and around the a pillars of a car at junctions.

At least they are trying to do something. Support them before we are all banned from motorised transport and have to ride Boris bikes in London. Rolling Eyes

What's not to like? Might help, probably won't hurt. Good on them for trying it.

Can I order a few hundred so that I can "donate" them? Thinking

What's the point of putting stickers on something most cagers never look at. Confused

Does this mean if I stick them on my bike wing mirrors I can find myself?

Wanted to get a few sheets and do a night time anonymous sticker campaign.

I understand Halfords may be distributing stickers for the aa.

Have to go shopping at local retail park later, so I'll check.

So now we just need a campaign to teach drivers to use their mirrors Laughing

Every little helps I guess, but could of made a more effective awareness campaign.

Its a nice thought...

Kind of like putting left/right stickers on the indicator stem though Rolling Eyes Doens't mean average joe will bother to use the damn thing.

I personally liked the old ThinkBike window stickers they used to give out - even if only a few people use them at least hopefully everyone behind see's it and might be reminded we exist on the roads Praying

Not a bad idea to have them on the bike mirrors.
1) People look at bikes.
2) Who hasn't almost taken out a bike already starting an ambitious overtake of you and the vehicles ahead.

I asked at local Halford's. I got the usual vacant staff member. They hadn't heard anything about any think bike stickers.

It would make more sense to give out these below, for those that don't look it won't make any difference for those that do it might help.

I changed my car recently so need a sticker or two.

My last lot were from some "to die for" campaign (signs up near bends etc to take your eye off the road).

Anyone know if they still do them?

A tad more expensive to give away than a sticker though.

I wouldn't want one on my car.

Yes I agree it is a lot more expensive than a sticker, but it would be 100* the effectiveness. It's great having a think bike sticker on a car but I've nearly been taken out by 3 idiots who have had the stickers on and just didn't bother looking or caring.

Only works if the driver can be bothered to flip their mirrors out. I followed some numpty home last night with both wing mirrors turned in presumably because they never used the damn things anyway.

I once saw a scoot carve up a police bike at Hyde park corner, I would have loved to have been going the same way as them just to watch the aftermath

You were right though map. AA have put some info on their website and say:

"Free stickers can be picked up from all Halfords outlets and will also be distributed by the police and directly to AA breakdown members in renewal and joining packs."

Just because they have a fancy mirror does not mean they are going to use it!
