Hi all, how does everyone go about finding storage? Only places I can find are like safe-store etc at £130 a month. Where do I look to find somewhere cheaper?
In Preston, Lancs btw.
Thanks, Grant

Try gumtree, seems to be the best place presuming you just want garage sized.

Gumtree or some estate agents have garages for rent

Self storage places round here are dirt cheap, there more than one place near you that you can get prices from ?

Might be cheaper, depending on the space you need.

.gov.uk takes you to this page but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Notes through doors locally?

I pay £20 a month for a garage to store the mrs car in, through word of mouth from one of my mates neighbours. He got his for £4 a week from a different neighbour.

Ask about bikers locally if they know anyone with garage space who might be up for sharing for a little bit of cash.

Pop a message up in local biker cafes/showrooms etc if they'll allow it.

Fair few people will likely be up for it Thumbs Up

A few streets from me has a block of garages. I knocked on all of the houses in the street to which the garages belong, until I found someone who would rent me their garage.

I got it for £20 a month but it was full of shit, and the door lock was fubar.

Took 2 trips to the tip to empty, £10 for a new door lock mechanism, and £40 for some big feck off bolts and padlocks.

Friday Ads.
Gumtree.
I actually placed an add in the local biker cafe's and bike mechanic shops. Soon got a response. Ended up finding a local biker to split the garage space with, so it ended up costing us £22 a month each. Worked out great. Thumbs Up

How far away would people be happy garaging their bike?

I've enquire and there is a garage near me that's available through the council for £30 per month, but its a 5-10min walk away :/

Is chained to a tree and covered in my garden that much of a worse option than sat in a garage that's not even near my house?

I'd much rather the walk and garage - especially if its secure enough to store most of your gear there. Weather protection will save lots of possible hassle, and generally probably a lot safer if the garage is secured properly with good locks/defenders/anchors etc.

Plus the more out of view it is the less likely its noticed generally.

I've garaged my bike 70 miles away from where i've been for the most part of the last year Laughing admittedly not while riding it for a good 6 months Thumbs Down
