I thought as I have passed my test and ride a bike capable of more than 60mph it was time to broaden my horizens

I propose a rideout too amsterdam to admire some scenery...

Would anyone be up for it?

(instigator (greg) it was partly his idea too)

Me???!?!????!??! My idea?!?!??!? Embarassed Laughing

Its a simply amazing plan, conjured up by two magnificent bcf'ers who combined their few remaining active brain cells at 2am to come up with such a masterplan

Who's up for it? Come on, I hear theres plenty of tourist attractions in Amsterdam...all those clog shops, windmill things, nice moats which we can all a lovely relaxing time on*. Whats there not to like?

Count me in Smile I need a new pair of clogs.

Would be interested, but not to ride there or to admire their scenery I'm afraid Razz. Cheap EasyJet flight sounds a much easier option than riding as flights can be got for about £13 or £18.

This idea was mentioned back early last year and never happened then, but if people are interested then it'd be good.

Thumbs Up

I'm with Ste on this one, as then we can "take in the culture" Wink although would be a good ride.

Whilst flying too amsterdam would be a good idea... and cheap

it makes it less of a ride-out and more of a trip...

This has been discussed before, about this time last year, infact Smile.

Not being a massive smoker (and having been to holland for such trips /many/ times before Smile ) it's not a massive appeal for, as I want to be keeping as much money as possible back for racing really.

Dusty and I went to the Assen GP a few years ago (we flew... only had provisionals at the time). There seemed to be a good party atmosphere genearlly, so worth considering.
However, unforutnately it usually coincides with the Dates Glastonbury is on and if it all possible I am going to glastonbury Smile.

That's the appeal I believe. Razz

Probably best some point in Feruary or March so people have had a couple of pay days since christmas & new year, what dates do people reckon on? Say going on Wednesday and back at weekend?

It did happen, just nobody else from BCF came along Thumbs Down Neutral

Same thing is happening again this year, we're going out there for 4 days and 3 nights. Fly out on Sunday 13th March and fly back on Wesnesday 16th March. So far there are 4 people down, so if any other BCFers want to join in the trip you'd be more than welcome!

Flights are EasyJet of course, £40.98 is the price at the moment - details below. The hotel we are staying in is here, the four of us already down are sharing two doubles, though a single will only set you back €90 according to their website. Should be a good laugh, last year certainly was... Angelic

outbound flight
London Gatwick to Amsterdam
flight 5107; dep. 14:35; arr. 16:50

return flight
Amsterdam to London Gatwick
flight 5112; dep. 21:55; arr. 22:05

Booked. Mr. Green

Just had a read over the EasyJet T&C:

Passengers are reminded that in accordance with UK and international law the Captain is in command of the aircraft and every person on board shall obey his or her lawful commands. All easyJet Captains are given authority to deal with passengers who misbehave, are disruptive, or otherwise cause problems by whatever means the Captain thinks fit. This may include the physical restraint and, when possible, removal from the flight of such persons

easyJet can deny carriage to any person or offload him or her at any airport if it is considered that:
b) the passenger is drunk or under the influence of alcohol or drugs Doh! Laughing

People who are interested, there are some photos on Korn's website from when he went last year here.

Civil Aviation Authority definition of a 'drunk' person:
Someone who has consumed alcohol before or during their flight.

So don't worry about it Ste. Wink

There is only one slight problem with that idea, Easy Jet don't go from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Razz
