What bike would convince you to buy brand new straight from the line, you don't have a budget but not something like a Desmosedici but it has to be legal Question

Ok, I know it's not just me but new models seem boring at the moment. Some are worse than their older versions, just look back at bikes and you will see that everyone goes on about the first Fireblade and the 98R1 for example.

It's always the older bikes that turn out best. There are people on here that would go out and purchase an older bike just because they have more power and better features than the newer bikes.

...

For me it would be a naked bike similar to a GT550 with twin front brake discs, improved suspension also with a kickstart as extra.

Front wheel drive then hm?

Could never justify buying a new bike.

Oops edit cheers, meant twin front brake discs. Thumbs Up

Even if money wasn't an option and you could say have an old bike, brand new with added extras/improvements Question

Honda Bros 650. I'd happily buy a stock one brand new. If I could I would spend silly money an 'RC31' version that's been modded till it's unrecognisable.

I really miss my Bros Crying or Very sad

I would love Kwak to put the zxr400 IL4 into production again using modern manufacturing techniques and materials while staying true to the original blueprint.

would
be
awesome, and ridiculous pricey

An adventure bike with 60mpg, over 200mile range, at least 80bhp, and a wet weight of 175KG or less.

It can't be that difficult, but there's no interest from manufacturers. Instead the bikes are getting heavier and heavier. Look at the CB500X it's by no means adventure read and weighs 196kg.

Give it another 250cc and boost the power a little and drop the weight.

KTM come closest getting 69bhp out of their twin spark 690 engine.

Perhaps the Tiger 800XC, detuned to 85bhp (from close to 100),and tuned for better fuel economy. Now lose 45kg. That would be my ideal bike.

KTM is going to sell replicas of the 2014 Dakar-winning 450 single. 68hp but light as hell, might be up your alley.

I've been watching this 'trend' (is it a trend?) of bikes getting heavier with trepidation. The first thing I noticed when I first got on a bike was how goddamn heavy it actually was (just a CG125 mind!) and that experience definitely left it's mark on me, so weight is always one of the first specs I checked. Jaw dropped when those new Honda commuters (NC700 etc) came in at 200kg+. Sounds outright lardy for a commuter Neutral

A bike with all the goodies as standard but not for a premium price.

Like car manufacturers do now. It annoys me that bike manufacturers seems to be twenty years out of sinc with car manufacturers. I know people say its all because bikes are manufactured at low volumes but im not so sure I agree with that.

Nah. I like to ride two up long distance though both me and my pillion are pretty light. The F650 Dakar works ok for that, but I'd like more poke for when I want to have a play, and less weight for when I get cross rutted, stuck in mud or need to ship it off for my next adventure.

Looks of an '05 R1, with a 1000cc engine that revs to 18-19k rpm so it screams like an F1 car.

Probably impractical with fuck all torque but it would be a hoot!

Nothing would persuade me to buy a new bike off the line. Once bitten, twice shy.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to spend a fortune having it incompletely serviced by a dealer for the first three years to then have them fuck me about and attempt to wriggle out of the warranty.

I bought as new bike once. Loved the bike but wish I hadn't bought it new. I might as well have just bought a low mileage second hand one, stuffed £2000 in used £10 notes up the exhaust and ridden away with it on the rev limiter.

I would like to see a new version of the DRZ 400, it hasn't changed since the day it came out other that new stickers each year. Fuel injection, more power and a 6th gear would be nice.

I'd like to see the CB250RS, W650 and R80RT back in production. And the GPZ900R. I'd also like a BMW R27 as well, please.

hi,
would have to be a "working" bimota v-due, not "sorted" with carbs but with working version of the 2t fuel injection.
im sure it could be done.....& it would benefit from 15yrs+ of advances in technology.

or a mito, fitted with maico 2t lump (the big one) with front end off a ducati, decent shock & twin front discs.
or sm fitted with same engine. Chequered Flag

cheers,
GAZ

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Similar - I'd say an RG500 or similar developed to modern standards as if strokers had never been killed, but improved from then.

As per Stinkwheel, I'd never buy new again. I didn't have any bad experiences on the few bikes I did have new, because the dealer I got them from looked after me and bikes properly, but there are always decent nearly-new examples out there to avoid instant "wheel-it-out-of-the-showroom" depreciation. Good experience to have once in your biking life perhaps (if the dealer is good), but that's enough. Mind you, if no-one bought new, there'd soon be nothing second-hand available either!

I'm in the big 2 stroke camp, with the extra, missing, decades worth of R & D!

I bought new once upon a time, YPVS 350, no problems with the dealer, only ever got the, free, first service, never went back to the dealers for the next 5 years, did all my own servicing! Mr. Green

2014 BMW 1200 GS Adventure without a doubt. 125hp, 92ft/lbs torque. Upright comfy positioning. Amazing handling on any type of road. Overwhelming road presence... Definately the bike for me.

Or maybe a Ducati Diavel if not the Beemer.
