 |

Hi guys, been viewing from afar the last few weeks and finally posting. Thanks for all the informative topics, I've learnt a great deal.
I passed my cbt in July last year after a few years of wanting to scratch the biking itch, various girlfriends and wives have talked me out of/not let me - whipeesh!! Sound of the whip I know 😉
I quickly bought a ybr 125 used, two lady owners and only 1500 miles so that's doubled now, I commute 18 miles on mainly back roads with a bit of dual carriageway and city riding. I stopped around October, scared of the dark 😳😄 mainly not seeing road properly and being cautious. Had it out a couple times daytime through winter and started commuting on it now properly last week.
A bit more background, I started off with cheap boots £60 helmet, textiles and got a good used Scott's leathers textile with armour on Gumtree. Now I can really tell the difference with the GOOD gear! Duh. Upgraded to Sidi touring boots (£50 eBay) what a world of difference! So much more feel in my feet with the gear changes, grip warmth etc.
I've digressed a bit but basically my hands are freezing now. I've tried 3 pairs of gloves, like the texspeed ones the best £30 amazon and they did the job - til now. Bought spada inner gloves - still shite! I don't want to get heated grips as I thought they looked quite difficult to install, I'm crap and I plan on another summer on 125 then taking test any going for a bandit or hornet or similar (kawasakis looking good, never gave then much thought but seen a couple models that have grabbed my attention.)
This morning was unbelievably cold, around -1 in aberdeen at 06am and frosty, my hands have never felt like it! Still tingling now. I have looked at heated gloves, I see Gerbing ones highly rated. Can pick some up on eBay for around £80 and wondered if any of you guys use them or have anything to add?
I know this is long winded and if you are still with me thanks for reading, I just wanted to introduce myself as well and apologies if I've posted in wrong section!!

KNOX Zero (outdry) are my glove of choice. I attached muffs to my bike and they lasted for all of two weeks. Not only did I feel like a knobber with them on but it made my bike about 4 inches wider in total so those times when you know you can get through a gap become hmm can I?
They are completely waterproof, pretty thick so offer decent warmth and loads of protection, not only for the knuckles but also wrist.

Ah my bad. I apologise for taunting your ailments, you old bugger.
But fair play for being wrist-deep in muff! ____________________ Yamaha RXS 100 > Honda CD 250 > Honda Hornet 600 > Honda CBR 600RR > Yamaha RXS 100 > Kawasaki ZX6R J2 > Yamaha FZ1 |

Over-grip heating pads, £2.15 delivered from China or £3.69 (ostensibly) UK stock.
They do actually work and are very easy to fit - you just need to find a 12V wire.
Also: muffs. Really. Just do it. -2 in East Kilbride, I had to turn the heated grips on Ze Beemer down. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Valid choice. It depends on the bike. I use Tucano neoprenes on my Burgman (and they really are good), but need enclosing muffs on Ze Beemer because of the verdammt indicators. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
