Is there a set % of value for a write off? Wife smacked a wall and damaged the chassis and could be a couple of grand damage!

Leon. Probably worth about 3.5k on a good day i would say. Shame as i paid 9!

If the chassis is damaged they will write it off for sure.

I'd be pretty shocked if it had damaged the chassis as its a monocoque Razz

Edit: But SRS, it's usually based around the glasses guide price, hope it goes as well as it can.

Out of curiosity, if someone (wife) is a named driver on your insurance for your car and has a prang, I presume that fucks your NCB and not hers.

So hers for her car would still be intact and mine would be of the 'bend over and take it' even though it wasn't me who crashed?

I imagine it would affect both.

His with the claim, hers for the 'Have you had any incidents in the last 5 years' as in, have you hit a pothole we can use to raise your premium?

The NCD of the policy that's had the claim is reduced/removed. No others.

The policy holder would have to declare a claim on a policy held in their name.

The named driver would have to disclose to having had an accident.

He'd likely have been a lot better off with it being CAT D'd, getting a total loss payout, retaining the salvage and getting it repaired at his own leisure / in own choice of workshop to keep the costs down.

Same here, smacked my ibiza estate into the central reservation on the motorway

Damaged every panel down the side, slight bend to the A pillar where the door mounts but repaired at a cost of 3.5k

Wife's insurance - her first year of her own insurance to start building her no claims!

My no claims is unaffected as it wasn't my policy (no car insured at moment)

Should have smacked it harder and had something else, doesn't quite feel the same to drive as it did before.

Actually they do all tend to work off very similar numbers, certainly in the car game.

Most engineers seem to be using salvage rates of 30-35% at the moment.

I just bought the Mrs Passat estate back for £170 needing a boot lid and bumper. 02 PD130 Sport with just over 100k and in half decent nick...
