I've done a lot of shopping online for gear and obviously know all the top websites that seem to be great for range and price - but would be great to hear if anyone has experience of any MASSIVE shops that you can visit to try shit on, have a browse etc.

I'm not talking about your average pokey little corner of a dealership, or gear shop with 2 brands of leathers in.. somewhere I can spend all day and lose a fortune - that's what I'm after.

I'm in the south, but always looking for an excuse for a road trip.

Maybe a bit far from you but Mega Motorcycle Store in Swindon. Massive, lots of stuff, decent prices. Surrounded by dealerships too so you can drool over anything from a Honda to a Victory while there.

They have 24 shops across the UK. Never actually been into one but from what I hear they are a decent bet

Just checked your location. Not too far from me. Give me a PM and I can take you to the best place around with friendly guys and loads of stock to choose from. It's J&S in Ilford. I live in Woodford and you're just a few miles east.

J&S do stock a decent range, and remember that they bought a bunch of Hein Gericke shops recently too.

They used to be cheap too, but their prices have crept up recently, so if you want to squeeze every £10 and £20 you'll need to keep hitting up eBay.

Harpers in Leigh-on-Sea

https://www.harpers.eu/msg3.htm

Really helpful guys, decent stock levels and actually fairly sound pricing as well.

Helped my missus out no end last year when she needed kit.

Fowlers in Bristol is pretty good for gear and for bike drooling.

They sell loads of brands of bikes, quite a few brands of kit, have a good cafe and there is a Honda dealer and a well stocked parts warehouse in adjacent buildings.

I will probably be popping in on Sunday at around lunchtime, between 1 and 2ish I think. Will be working on my RXS with Carvel in the morning and we will probably ride over there for a cuppa.

PM me for number.

Alpha's over the road is better IMO.

You can say that again. a 2010 CBF125 with 7300 miles on the clock and its £2,400. Brand new they are £2,600.

Maybe it's priced high because it's a working example.

I have heard great things of these people.

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/

The only downside I've heard is that Held clothing comes up a bit small.

Hein Gericke used to be good, overpriced but if you ask they'll ALWAYS give you a discount. Never been to J&S but they've bought some of the old HG stores, and their shop pictures on website seem pretty good.

Demon Tweeks in/near Wrexham is great, I drove from Sheffield to go and get a load of stuff from there... I could literally spend a hundred thousand pounds in that shop. (They have loads of road car & 4-wheel motorsport stuff as well as bike stuff). Their website is fantastic too, and they staff are really helpful so I tend to call up rather than order on the internet. Can usually talk your way into a bit of money off that way too.

J&S usually give a 10% discount if you say you are a new rider, and the school recommended them! Not on everything though...

Ws4936 showed me a lot of mega-bargains hes got at George Whites in Swindon, want to pop up there myself soon.

Fowlers is large and has a good selection although not a fan of their prices of service most of the time.

Round my area is Woburn Triumph but it has quite a limited stock in terms of gear, then there's Flitwick Motorcycles with much larger choice, next and probably the best is the Bike Stop in Stevenage and last and very least is J&S in Watford.
It has by far the biggest choice but I'm loath to go there.

Forgot FBmotostore, Luton. Very good range of Held gear. Thumbs Up

That's now the mega motorcycle store. They have a website. You missed the best bargains though last November they had a massive clearance sale (mostly of the old George Whites stock) the wife walked away with almost £600 of gear for £110. Still lots of good offers though and a big store, it's surrounded by dealerships too so you can have a good wander around while there.
