It's not much fun. As the damage is slow but progressive, many people just adapt around it until they get to one day when they just can't any more.

The major advice is KEEP USING THE DROPS even tho they're a PITA and it doesn't seem like they're "doing" anything and REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENTS for check ups.

If they can get the pressures under control and keep them there, you can slow or even pretty much stop the damage spreading.

Old man has it, it's not nice at all. There are emerging methods of control, but the main one is to cut a flap in the eye and secure it with a couple of stitches, the tension of which can be adjusted to allow the pressure relief.

Operation every 6 months, daily eye drops and he deals with either a 'milky' look to everything or one eye 'magnifies', which is a bit disorientating.

Bad luck - but don't write yourself off just yet.

I have had Glucoma.

Was silly and didn't pay it much attention.

Drops and regular check ups are a must and there are improvemens in what they can do. If you can try and get to be refered to a specialist at Moorfield eye hospital.

Drops can eventually lead to cataracts,

In my case it led to cataracts, uveitis etc etc. Had injections in the eye to try and delay the process a few times as the drops i did start to take were not helping. I then had laser therapy which would quarterise the lining that produces the fluid that build up.

It was short laser blast to the inside of the eye and was fu*cking painful, a bit like flicking the eye with your finger when it is bruised.

I started to get symptoms in my other eye but touch wodd nothing came of it and have been fine for 20 odd years now.

So if you get the right treatment you may be able to manage the effects.

Cannabis is good for glaucoma. It reduces the pressure in the eye.

Also if you have Glucoma or someone in your family has you should be able to get free eye checks, so no excuses.

Father-In-Law got it, and has always had bad eyes. They went in with knives and frikkin' lasers and all sorts, and he's just regained his license after passing an eyesight test at 71.

I know you're a few decades older than that, but hang in there, there's always hope.
