I was going slightly over the speed limit and saw said plod. He then proceeded to follow me but broke the law to catch up to me and was almost tailgating me and then drove off. Don't say plod is gonna send me a speeding fine?

Didn't stop and give you a bollocking at the time? Yeah, they're planning on taking it straight to court, no fixed penalty, no speed awareness course. You're fucked.

But really, you're fine (and won't get fined). This is an occupational hazard, they just love to chase and bait bikes.

I've been pulled on my 125 for "speeding" (laughed that one off) and had a bikeplod absolutely hoon it to catch me up and then park himself right up my tailpipe, when I was doing an indicated 30 in a 30 on a geezerbike, all hi-vizzed up. Rolling Eyes

Just bored bullies livening up their shift. If you're not tugged at the scene they're not going to send a NIP later.

I assume that they have to catch you up, to a certain extent, just to read your numberplate. Once they've checked it out and it all comes back as legit they just let you continue on your way, might have been different if you were uninsured or the bike was stolen or on false plates though... isn't that what we want roads police to be checking?

Up to a point, but they do tailgate aggressively just to see what we'll do. I really must get a rear facing camera.

Lol @ the replies!

But Plod can issue a speeding fine in the post without telling you at the time, right?

I believe that theoretically a police officer in a police vehicle can, however the requirements to do so are so stringent that they wont bother.

Of course, speed cam vans are a different kettle of fish....

Yes. In practice though, they'd have stopped you at the scene to cum in their pants while giving you a hypocritical lecture determine your identity, see if you're daft enough to admit to the offence, and check out you and your vehicle to see if they can pin anything else on you.
